I am doing an Islam Worship Project and I need a few questions answered:
How much Arabic does a Muslim need to know?
What are the MAIN ideas of the daily sermons (please help me with some specific details)
What are usually the 2 MOST important parts of the service?

I will try my best to answer your questions.
1. A Muslim needs to know how to recite their prayers in Arabic. This is usually about 5-8 Surahs (chapters) in the Qur'an. The rest comes through study and interaction with others who know Arabic. We are encouraged to learn Arabic because that is what the original text was written in and we are taught to seek and learn knowledge for our self and not just what someone tells us
2. I do not understand what you mean by daily sermons. Do you mean Friday congregation (jummah)? They are based on anything. Mostly Faith and having trust in Allah. How to become better people in society. Anything uplifting and reminding of how a Muslim is supposed to act (not what you see on TV in the media)
3. The most important parts of Jummah are Remembrance of Allah and prayer. We actually do this 5 times daily (prayer). That is why we do pray. We pray to continue to be in the remembrance of Allah. Also praying in congregation is important. It is commanded to us in the Qu'ran to meet during Jummah (Friday) and pray.

Not much, just the 1st chapter, it consists only of 7 verses, + some other few verses from other chapters if possible, along with 4-5 sentences like (Allah Akbar)...etc

i'm muslim! 1. only if you can say the prayer and read the Qr'an .2 . there is no god but Allah and prophet Muhammad (s) is the messger of Allah. 3. Always do good deeds and try to pray everyday 5x.
