When Jesus was on the cross on Calvary, he told John to take care of His mother. Why would he not be concerned about Mary Magdalene as well, if she was his wife?

Even if she had relatives to care for her, would not a loving husband be concerned for the care of his wife?

DaVinci Code is a work of fiction.

Micah, the question was designed to get people to think for themselves about whether the half-truths of the DaVinci Code should be taken seriously.

Understanding the Jewish culture helps here. Since Joseph had obviously died it became Jesus' responsibility to make sure his mother was cared for. Jesus was the oldest son. Had Mary Magdalene been His wife He would definitely been just as concerned for her welfare since the same responsibility would apply to her. It's a very good example to debunk the whole theory.

If you're referring to the part in the actual bible where he's crucified, then anything mentioning Mary Magdalene and Jesus being married and having a child has been removed from the bible by Empire Constantine and the Council of Trent. But what you have to remember is that, even stories telling about a true event, the main way of telling the story was by someone telling someone else. Stories traveling by word of mouth tend to get changed just a tad or drastically. So try not to get hung up on details. Pray, think, and research. The truth will come to you, it always worked for me.

According to the trumped up "Jesus and Mary Magdalene" marriage thing, it is suggested that Jesus was speaking to his wife and referring to their son. However, being that John's name was actually mentioned seems to lead us to think that he was speaking to his brother John. I saw the docudrama and I do not recall the name of the "supposed" child. Not only that, but if you look at the historical data in the Bible that first speaks of Mary M's association with Jesus, it is pretty hard to think that they may have met, married and had a child old enough to stand at the foot of the cross in the very short period of time allocated. The guy who put this "docudrama" together is out to make the bucks just like the "Bible code" etc. did. People will do anything for money...even damn their own souls.

Mary Magdalene was NOT Jesus's wife.
The DaVinci Code is purely fictional.

I have never found any thing in the scripture, stating that Jesus was married. there are many things that we will not know or understand until we go home so it is best to stay away from those things that may try to lead us away from the truth. I have found it best for me,when some one says things like Jesus was married to reply with the truth, that being,(The Holly Bible says nothing about Jesus being married) If we allow the devil to keep us in debate over what can not be proved in the scripture, then the devil wins.It is after all his mission to keep us as far from the truth as he can.

Women took their status from the men in their life so maybe Mary Magdalene had a brother or son to take care of her while Mary, his mother, was a widow losing her only son and, therefore, had nobody. According to the nuns that taught me, Mary (Jesus' mother) was an only child and, therefore, had no brothers.

Of course, the nuns would also never buy into the "Mary Magdalene was his wife" theory.

I suspect that no one worried about Mary Magdalene taking care of herself. She seemed to hang out with a dangerous crowd and handled herself just fine. She may also have been workig with others who hoped to save him until the last moment and he didn't want to call attention to her. I do think she was his wife, but it seems important to the religion that that not be so. I don't know why really - it makes Jesus more likeable in my opinion to think he had a wife.

Peace!

He gave rspect to his mother first and foremost. Mary Magdelene had others "in the church" who could take care of her. His first concern was his mother.

simple answer she was not his wife, there is nothing that vaguely assumes that she was. she was one of many ffemale followers of Christ. No doubt she was one of the most devout because she was present shortly after his ressurection and was used to announce the gospel of His rising from the dead to the other disciples.

She was not His wife. She had her brother, Lazarus, to take care of her and their sister Martha.
