The same reason Christians or Muslims or Hindus believe their belief is correct, or certian, as you put it. There is no way to prove God exists or doesn't exist. If a person wants to believe in something, why do they have to have a reason?

. The problem is one of complexity. The complexity of an object is a measure of the number of ways that the object could be otherwise. The Theist belief that a complex creator is responsible for the origin of complexity cannot explain complexity. It just defers it, where it is swept under the rug. If there is a complex creator god, with the knowledge to create the universe, then where did that knowledge come from. Why is god not otherwise. It just doesn't make sense. Theists claim bacteria are too complicated to "Just Exist" what about this much more complex god? Well they refuse to ask themselves that!
The answer can only be that reality is simple. How can reality be simple when it looks so complex. The answer must be that we see so little of it. And the part we do see is chosen because only in regions with local complexity could we exist. This implies reality is infinite, simple and timeless and that time and space are derived from something far more basic.
So the answer must be that the universe is not created. Man created gods.

Because we know much more than Enlightenment philosphers did, even much more then people 50 years ago.
You need to go out and study and investigate the rich breadth and depth of modern human knowledge. Atheism is not built on nothing, it is built on certainty there have been huge steps made in the past 1500 years, much more than enough to put aside ancient philosophies and knowledge like those from the Bible and Aristotle.
Just like I would not want to be treated by a doctor using 1500 year old medical science, I'm not going to structure my world and spiritual view from a life guide (the Bible) from that time. Older is not better.
A theist pointed out to me the truth of 1+1=2 is true today just like it was 1500 years ago. Yes, 1+1 may still equal 2, but now we have calculus, advanced math, algebra, 0, ather rich concepts, tools, truths which did not exist 1500 years ago.

There is no way to disprove God, but neither is there a way to prove Him.
Most religious beliefs, and Christianity especially, just sound too good to be true. They sound like exactly the kind of thing you would tell a child with leukemia: "Do not fear death, for a greater reward awaits you." Most people are very uncomfortable with the idea that they will one day cease to exist, and so an alternate explanation is required. Similarly, many people become confused and listless when faced with their own insignificance in an unfathomably vast universe; they NEED there to be some plan for them, someone who cares about them.
Basically the only reason to believe it is that you want it to be true, and that's just not good enough for me.

There is no way to prove that the Tooth Fairy doesn't exist either. Aren't you certain she doesn't?
Honestly, I am not certain that there is nothing supernatural to our universe. It doesn't seem possible to design any kind of experiment to detect anything supernatural, so I don't give much thought to it.
However, when you say "God" in a forum like this, you probably mean the "one true God" common to the three monotheistic faiths as defined by the Hebrew Bible (the Christian Old Testament). I see no evidence to support the claim the Hebrew Bible is fact, and I see a lot of evidence to support the claim that it is myth. I think the evidence is so one-side that I am as certain about this as I am with anything in life.

We really can't base our entire system of beliefs on something that "might" be. If we lived our lives around all the things that MIGHT be, then we'd need to worship all the possible gods that have been invented since the beginning of time, and worship gods that haven't even BEEN invented yet--just in case we missed something. We'd have to assume that anything the mind can come up with MIGHT be true, and live and act accordingly. Do you want to live your life as if a space alien populated the earth, and we are all possessed by the spirits of space aliens? That's what Scientology believes. Hey...it MIGHT be true...

Why is anyone certain about beliefs?
I'm not certain, and, that's ok for me. I do not need to make up an answer or try to make myself believe someone else's.
My Atheism is my best guess. I've come to the conclusion that I do not believe in a deity, and, if there is one it most likely isn't anything like one species on this speck of a planet in this huge universe can come up with.

A skeptical mindset, in which all beliefs are up for grabs and subject to testing and rational argument, seems to provide the most sound foundation for making sense of the world.
If you quarrantine a certain bunch of beliefs - called religion -from criticism and rationality, you are building a worldview on foundations of sand (to use the metaphor of a certain first century sage).

The bible, so replete with error and unreliable as a source for any sort of truth eliminates that god so your only "proof" source being faulty itself proves the unliklihood of your god. Therefore there is no god of the bible nor any other manifestation that indicates "his" existance

You just answered your own question. 'There is no way to prove that God is real, but there is no way to prove he isn't real.' I'm sure your fellow Christians are going to take you aside and tell you how you're not supposed to help the enemy.
