samson lived at the time of the Judges of Israel. During that time Israel was at war. They did not start the war. As they left Egypt, they were attacked by the Amalekites (See Exodus 17-18) It would seem that the Amalekites were the name of the total clan and the Philistians were sub-clans.

The books of Moses indicate how those that were willing to become part of Israel were to be treated. With respect. See the stories of Rahab and Ruth

In the days of the Judges, the war was being faught agressively. Now Samson has long been known to be somewhat of a "Loose Cannon". So to prove his position, he did some crazy things. Was it genocide? I don't think so. It was war! Was God proud? I don't think so !
