Yes! Religion is nothing but mind control in my opinion! Anyone with any thought process can look at it and see that!

It certainly may seem so if one looks at most religions from a worldly logical point of view.
How can we see it as logical when we say that a being that we've not seen has had a son with a normal girl. - That son grew up in a home with brothers and sisters and became an itinerant teacher. - That teacher was such a threat to the Romans and the Traditionalist Jews of that day that they put him to death. - That he was placed in a cave like tomb and that he was raised from the dead after his body had started to decay. - That this raised man walked the earth for forty days and then was taken up to heaven, to God's side and he will come back some day.
Sound logical to you? Well, not to me ..... but that is what I believe happened and will happen.
That's just one religion. Others have just as fantastic stories to hear. They're fantastic but not stupid.

What do I see as religion's contribution to society? Religion creates divisive power structures which pit the various packs against each other on an ideological basis. It causes people to focus on belonging instead of on being a humanist or a moralist. It encourages people to engage in meaningless ritual and thereby permits them to believe that such participation is primary to being a good and moral person. It permits people to reinforce their dominant and submissive programming (instead of reinforcing their spiritual side by shifting a focus to moral behavior). It creates a sense of superiority in people which dehumanizes people who have alternative positions.
Therefore, religion exists as a result of the very programing which is contrary to the will of God. It exists for it's own sake and is (for the very most part) a total failure in either saving souls or binging humanity closer together.
Would the world be a better place without religion? You bet. What we need to do is move away from national, religious, ethnic and social class divisions and toward a more humanist approach to the world. By placing ourselves together in the common human race and eliminating these divisive frames of reference we would contribute to our collective good. Can you imagine for a moment if the billions of dollars spent each year on military supplies was instead put in to a world coffer from which social programs and relief for less fortunate individuals was made? Oh there I am dreaming again....

It can be. the word "religion" isn't what it used to be. It all depends on your beliefs. believing in God isn't religion. When people take a good thing, and twist it, it's satanic, and that's when religion is dumb. Most "religions" out there aren't true, or close to be. The bible is God's word, and thats the end to that. It's what people change good things into that makes it stupid.

Stupid in some areas ... (I wouldn't take my car to a priest to get an overhaul)
Their area of expertise is ... the mysteries of God that we will never understand til we die.
There are some things that are understood, though, and in matters of being at peace with yourself and other people, they are smart. (I would hate my neighbour to get advice from his gunsmith about how to get along with me)

Some people have a need to believe. It fills that need. It may seem stupid to many of us, but not to them.
Are football, baseball, hunting, car racing, fishing, etc., stupid?
I guess to some, yes.

To answer your question.....No religion is not stupid......If you do not believe in Him and comply with his rules. His rules will judge you in the end.If you are found guilty by God, and only by God your punishment is everlasting death.

No, but people can twist and ruin a decent thing. I wish more people would *try* to be a *little* bit more skeptical of some claims.
