I graduated Feb04 from AF boot camp luckily missing by 2 years the change from 6 to 8 week boot camp, When i entered boot camp, I ran the 1.5 miles In about 18 minutes. Back then i used to weigh 187 pounds . When I graduated Boot camp I could run 1.5 miles in 9:25 minutes and weighing 170, I am 6"2.
The TI'"guys that yell at you" have a weekend called Warrior week that hapends on Sunday on the 4th week, where they make a **** load of money overpricing M&M's milkyway and sodas you name it for $1 each. Dont forget that we are not allowed any chocolates or any type of sweet thing for 6 weeks strait and they make us buy at the mini BX "gas station store" and we where only allowed to walk threw the hygiene products and simple military wear section. oh and all this supervised by a TI Technical Instructor while some guy was grabbing a six pack of beer and buying a box of kitkats
The worst part about it is that they issue you all your suits aka "blues" the last week that you there and then after they send you to you tech school the exercise is really low compared to boot camp, but not if your a SP aka cop,red beret, fireman,...etc and nothing fits after a week or two. and you have to re tailor everything.

Not the best of my life. THat did not come until I had been in a while. I was 123 lbs when I went in and 133 when I completed boot camp. I went up to 185 over the next three years and was running 6 miles a day, 5 days a week. I was benching about 260 and squatting about 500. I was in the best shape of my life then.

I think that depend on the era you served. When I went in during 1970, the Vietnam war was going on hot and heavy, so even if you don't do so well and flunk your PT tests and other things, you will still graduate fromm boot camp, and will eventually wind up on the front lines of Vietnam. The Iraq situations parallels the Vietnam situation, so I get the military is doing the same thing "unofficially" and under wraps of course

Well I was in good shape but I had gained almost 20 pounds I was 90 pounds when I went in. The only thing was that while I was in there I tore the cartilage in my knee. I was 17 went I went in and 17 when I got out (10 day until my 18th birthday) I have had to have 4 knee surgeries since and the military did not pay for any of them because they said I had weak joints therefore it happened before I went in. They never figured out what was wrong with my knee so they had to say something so that they would not have to pay for it. So now almost 16 years later I am trying to get compensation for my knee injury. I might have to have yet another surgery ugh.

Not the best but not far off. It made boot camp a lot easier. It also kept you amused by all the ones that weren't in shape. Who were complaining about the pt.

I was in good shape and wish I could do it over again to get back in shape. I was around 180 pounds and when I got out I was around 150. When I was in boot, they either marched you around for hours, made you run (three recruits or less had to run everywhere) and used pushups are punishment. Plus you only ate when and what they told you. No snacks or munchies!

I quit smoking 2 pacs a day. (I had no choice in the matter and am now thankful!) Was running 2 miles in 12 mins and 6 seconds by AIT and had a PT patch. It was great, you seemed to get so mu7ch accomplished in a day, if only we had the discipline to live our lives with such schedules we could achieve so much.
