She will have this disease forever as long as she lives. She will be on expensive medication for as long as she lives and at times Dips .After 4 weeks she should be curing up by now. This stuff has killed a lot of dogs regardless of treatment. She will also have to be Spade so she won't pass this Gene on to puppies which she will do if she ever has puppies You should be sure and let the person who sold you the pup know so they will not raise again and pass this Dreadful disease on to anymore Innocent pups.I bought 2 Boston Terriers from 2 different States and both of them had Demodetic Mange that didn't appear until around 10 or 11 months of age,It was horrible I spent around a thousand dollars on them had them spade and neutered and found them good forever homes. They were so beautiful and cute and one day out of nowhere an oozing sore just popped up first on one and then the other.I was so upset. My vet told me they both needed a shot ."right Between the eyes" I cried and cried ,but I had a good friend that lived in the country that begged me for the beautiful pair, once I got them stable ,so I told them all about the disease and the meds they would have to take for prevention and they took both of them.I was lucky and they were luckier to have so many people willing to treat them and keep them forever. The medication is expensive and the dips are expensive and different things can make it better or worse at times .Sorry but that is the horrible Story about the Red Mange. The only good part is that it is not catching from one dog to another only through Breeding it is passed on to any puppies they might have .Good Luck and I am sorry for the Pup and you and your family .Been There done that ,So Sorry!!!!

Mange is very cureable, infact many litters of puppies contract mange because of their lowered immune systems. Don't loose hope. 4 weeks is not very long for treatment, give it some time as your vet knows what he/she is doing. I would suggest your parents wait a little bit before putting a young puppy to sleep for mange. Many time it takes several weeks before the pups immune system to develop enough to help fight the bacteria and many more weeks for her skin to go back to normal. It is heriditary though so you may want to let the person you got the puppy from know that if they are breeders. I've posted a website you and your parents may want to visit to get a few answers about "red mange". I hope it helps and I hope your puppy gets better soon.

I once had a dog with the red mange. I think he got it at the vets office. He had to take skin meds for the rest of his life.....about 6 years after he was diagnosed.

I had a puppy who had mange. It will never go away but it will disappear; and if you keep her on the meds or have the cream around that they should give you they you should be fine. She probably will loose hair around where the mange is. As far as I know its not a disease that can kill if you keep it under control but if you let it go then she can get an infection.

the best thing for any mange is to put used mottor oil on and spread it all over and do not was it off repeat once or twice it really work my dog had mange my dad put the oil on him two or three times and it went away the vet won't tell you this because they lose alot of money but it won't hurt the dog just don't get it in the dogs face or ears you can put on face just keep out of eyes, nose, mouth and ears

DON'T PUT MOTOR OIL ON DOG! She will lick it off and could die. You may try oatmeal baths also. Go to wolfcreekranch.net They may have natural remedy for the red mange. You can also contact them and they should be able to help you.
Good luck!

I think you should call and ask your vet. Only your vet knows what condition your dog is in and if she can make it.

good luck and hope she gets better
