I'm looking for a knife that i can put to use in the outdoors with out the risks of ruining it , if you've got anywhere that i could look for such a knive gibe me some hints

Why would you even want a bowie knife anyway? Home Defense? Try a baseball bat, or a regular fixed blade knife, like a CRKT. Well, I'm not a communist so I'm not gonna rant about you wanting a stupid cheap chinese toy knife from a movie.

Price and name brand mean next to nothing in terms of quality anymore.

Most of the big names....most knives in general....are made in China these days. Brand name stuff comes off the same factory lines as no name stuff. Name brands often have overuns that get sold as discount stuff, too.

A few years back, there was a certain multitool maker whose products were retailing at $49....the exact same product, down to the sheath with the removed stitching, went for $5.99 at certain discount stores.

In the past I'd always suggest American made names....but these days, I've seen terrific knives, no names, sell for $12.

My best suggestion to you would be to define your criteria. Do you want something you can brag about how much it cost? Do you want a work knife that you don't care about brand?

Beware of anything thats affordable. When you buy a knife, you get what you pay for.

I'm not sure what you're looking for as far as uses but consider a Ka-Bar. Not a bowie knife but the price is manageable and the whole thing is strong. Great multi-purpose knife. Good enough for the Marines... good enough for me.

Here are two good sites for you.
www.eknifeworks.com
www.budk.com
If you are wanting a "true" Bowie, try the one made by United.
If you want a "Bowie" for outdoor use, try the one made by Frost.
