Well since you are asking from a Christian perspective (not what some people above were giving), why don't we get some verses. In Matthew, Jesus mentions that if one lusts over a woman, then he has already committed adultery. (Matthew 5:27-28) While you don't have to think about women lustfully while masturbating, they pretty much go hand in hand. Jesus goes on to say "And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you..." which may not be specifically about masturbation, but it still spoke to me when I read it. I'm a 17 yr old Christian, and this has actually been a struggle for me, but I have a few verses that have helped me. "No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man but God is faithful who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able but with the temptation will also make the way of escape that you may be able to bear it." - 1 Corinthians 10:13

I take it you're a teenager?

Well let me tell you how it is for guys.
There are many reasons why masturbation is a good thing.
1. It relieves stress and anxiety. The teen years are some very stressful years to experience.
2. It temporarily reduces testosterone levels. During puberty the human male produces a great deal of testosterone and since this is a hormone of aggression it can help one to feel less upset and angry sometimes since that 'moody' feeling that is especially typical in teen males is a symptom of rapid hormone release.
3. It's normal to masturbate. As a modern society we have pushed people into waiting to have sex until marriage. But ages ago before the necessity of schools and college were invented teens were not only having sex but getting married fairly early on. Sometimes 15 or 16 years of age. If it is unnatural for us to wait so long, biologically speaking, to have sex then masturbation is undeniably important from a biological point of view.
4. If you don't masturbate that semen will find its way out anyhow during your sleep in the form of a 'wet dream'. So you'll still masturbate in your sleep but you won't remember it and therefore loose some of its psychological benefits.
5. and most importantly it feels good and should not be a cause for guilt no matter what anyone says.

ALL MEN have done it. It's normal. It's part of being alive.

The Bible doesn't mention masturbation and so a person cannot call something a sin that God has not called a sin. There are sinful thoughts that a person can entertain in that act and there are other factors to consider. But if you want to read an in depth examination of this subject from a Scriptural and a historical point of view then check out these two links.

Fornication is a sin. Fornication includes, but is not limited to, premarital sex, adultery, and lust (thinking about or imagining having sex with someone). Leviticus 15:16 also shows that a semen emission absent of sex makes a man unclean, plus there are a few verses that speak of not wasting semen. It is how life is passed on, so God evidently holds it sacred and means for it to be used as intended and not wasted on selfish pleasure. As for those saying it's "OK" or "natural", Isaiah 5:20 says this; "Woe to those who are saying that good is bad and bad is good, those who are putting darkness for light and light for darkness, those who are putting bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!" Know your bible!

masturbation is healthy. actually...those priests that diddle little boys should do it twice DAILY! maybe then they'd keep their peckers away from 'em!
but ehh i'm an atheist. I have no idea if you crazy mofos look down on self lovin. But come on...how are you to expect someone to "love" you if you can't even "love" yourself hunny?
Just make sure to wash up afterwards and try to limit yourself to only 2 times a day at most. Any more than that, and you need to find a hobby!

I think some people are a bit too nosy... and, most likely the people talking about it being "wrong" are probably doing it the most.

It is not forbidden in the Bible. However, the Bible does caution regarding your thought life. If you are a Christian, do not feel condemned, but try to bring all thoughts captive. Do not let your thought life rule you.
