Freedom of religion is good .....

One of my posting was deleted, by who I do not know, but most probably due to the fact I do not agree with his/her view. I wrote to yahoo "Customer Care" (if there even is a Customer care) but it is like sinking in the sea.

What you are talking about is not freedom of religion, but freedom of speech. This is a private organization policing a public board where thousands of messages are handled daily. This not a news source or a historical accounting of life or anything so serious that the time needs to be taken to investigate. If someone is offended, it is just easier to remove the comments. It's no big deal - don't take it personally.

Peace!

PS - Freedom of religion means you can practice your beliefs as you want in the privacy of your home or place of worship - not that you can subject others to your spiritual ideas, beliefs or rituals. Again, nothing personal. I didn't report you.

Freedom of religion is so that people can believe what they want to believe, It doesn't mean that you can get on a religion section of the internet and expect everyone to not talk about it for you.
You have freedom from religion, It's called turn around and look the other way and no one with bother you.

You can get things deleted if there offensive towards someone directly.

Freedom to believe as we choose is the only way , other wise it would be brainwashing.
In my opinion our religious and spiritual beliefs should be very private and personal for each person, and off limits for outside manipulation or interference. Religion is man made and not always as it seems. Spirituality comes from within and ones own understanding and relationship with the world , seen and unseen.,
discussion about politics and religion are the cause of many wars. they claim peace but yet are touchy subjects, we are passionate and opinionated about these volatile subjects, whatever we believe , someone will always believe something different

The phrase "freedom of religion" is often used to refer to the Bill of Rights but that document actually prohibits the federal government from establishing a religion. The point is not to protect religion but to protect people from religion. Many European countries allowed their governments and churches to become entwined which lead to much persecution who happened to disagree with these church/states.

In sharp contrast that philosophy that the church represents God and therefore has the right to rule over individuals, the United States was founded on the philosophy that it is individuals who have rights and government only has that power that individuals choose to give it.

So contrary to so-called conservatives who portray the US as having been founded on Christian principles, the truth is almost exactly the opposite. What the US is really founded on is freedom FROM religion.

I believe freedom of religion is good.

As far as yahoo goes, it has to be difficult for them when someone reports another user. I think some people like to cause problems and yahoo has to come up with a standard that will effect all users.

Freedom of religion certainly should be a positive concept, wouldn't you agree?

But like you mentioned yourself, freedom FROM religion would be an even greater concept!

Imagine a world with no religion...

Wouldn't that be extraordinary?

P.S. Yahoo! Answers makes its own rules without asking anyone's advice and/or opinion ya know!

What gets in the way freedom is belief in our own perfection and our belief that we are perfect in out judgment, therefore our interpretation of religion is perfect too. A common problem in religious leadership.

There is an exception. The practice of religion cannot be used to cloak any kind of behavior in respectability. Religion cannot be allowed to harm people. Religion cannot be allowed to create injustice.

Freedon of religion has worked well for over
200 years here in America and is still doing
well. You are free to choose whatever or
whichever you like or not choose at all. It's
up to the individual. I did not see your
comments so I cannot judge on what you said.
You do have a right to express yourself as
long as you don't use profanity of suggestive
remarks.
