Yes they are good dogs for flats. Just make sure you provide them with plenty of dog toys and dog things to chew on while you are out.

I am not an expert on Jack Russell's but my friends have some. They need room to run and run every day. My friend takes his out in the woods and that dog runs for hours. They have lots of energy and they need to use up that energy. Perfect example was a friend of mine , the dog wanted to run , do something, but they wouldn't let him so he did things to get into trouble..I felt so sorry for that dog because he couldn't be what he was breed to be I called the Jack Russell rescue. Now the dog as a place to run and be free to do what he wants. this is my opinion because like I said I am no expert on this type of dog. Hopefully some one that does can tell you a little more.

As long as you are not locking the Jack up in a crate all day and keep them active with toys you should be fine. I got a Jack as a rescue dog, the original owner kept her locked in a crate all day long. She would let her out and she would go crazy. So she would lock her up more. Now she is a fine little girl. She gets her time to act up and play, but for the most part she is very calm.
