Sorry, no creative ways for you to "get out" of your situation. But, which would be worse for her? moving in with her and then leaving? You didn't say why you have cold feet. Or not moving in at all, and saving yourself and her the aggravation? You can't play games with peoples lives. If you never really wanted to move in with her, you should never have told her you would. And you can't let her emotionally blackmail you into something either. But you have to be honest.

Dude, grab your balls and have some personal integrity! Here's the deal: You made an agreement and have the place to move into. You're going to be in some way held responsible - either legally or by the girl. You have to handle that end of it, too. If it's worth giving up your share of the rent to not move in with her, then you really have to be honest about it. Be real with her and tell her the truth - that you don't want to move in together. Honesty - not creative lies - are the only way you'll ever have a lasting relationship.
If you have to be creative to tell her the truth, then there's the consideration of whether she's worth keeping around for longer or not. If she is worth it, if you really do care for her and she really cares for you, then she'll understand and eventually accept your cold feet and wait until later - when it's also right for you.
AS FAR AS THE CREATIVE PART - you've already initiated it by posing the question here. "Darlin', I care about you, but I've got cold feet and I can't move in with you yet. I posed the question on answers.yahoo.com and got all these answers about how to tell you and...
HERE's the good part: I thought I'd let you pick the best answer.
The way I see it is that if you didn't care, you'd just be the typical guy who's cold and pull the "Whatever" line, probably like most other guys you know. Since you do care, you want some advice.
I think that's great, and so will any girl who's worth keeping.
Hope this helps.

Listen. Moving in a just a convenience. If she annoys you after-wards and won;'t stop, just pack and leave. No big deal. If she's annoying you now and won;t stop picking on you, well then stop packing and unpack. tell her the two of you need to see a couples counselor to iron out things which you feel are necessary before you move in together.

Get some magic markers, cover yourself in ink, and claim that you've got the flesh-eating virus and perhaps right now is not a good time for you two to share close quarters.

if your name isn't on the lease then you already have a way out. if it is then unfortunately as a good person you have to go through with it you have to look at it from a business stand point if you don't then she has to burden the bills by herself and think would you want someone to back out on you financially ??????

Being "creative" is childish...honestly. Let her know you are not down. If you aren't ready then you just aren't ready but she'll will appreciate your honesty a lot more than your BS.

Just be a man and tell her you don't want to do it. She won't buy any stories. Unless she is a total dork.
