I took a half of a oxycodone tablet sunday night and will probably have to take a pre emplyment drug test tuesday evening will only a half of a tablet it show up, or will it be to small a dose?

BTW it is a legal prescription it is just a year old and from where I had surgery, but I took the half of a tablet Sunday because I pulled something in my back and the half a tablet is the first painkiller I have took in over a year. I am not a druggy and just wanted to make that clear.

Also do old pills lose their potency, they expired 6 months ago?

It takes 3 days to leave ur system--no they do not lose there potency--and last never take half or crush an oxycodone--these are time released and cutting one in half or crushing it messes up the time release deal.Check out discoveryhealth.com and see

PEOPLE: OXYCODONE is Percocet not OXYCONTIN!!
Why does that confuse everybody? Any way....Any amount can show up, it depends on alot of things. The rule of thumb is 72 hours, but with alot of drinking and peeing it can be done. Since it is for a job, should the test be positive, IF IT COMES BACK POSITIVE show the prescription anyway and explain, what would you have to loose at that point. That happend to me, I explained I had a prescription and that was it, I didn't have to show it or anything, I got the job. But start, right now and keep going, DRINK, DRINK, PEE, and DRINK, Especially Tuesday am.
They really dont loose potency, drugs stay good for quite a while, but the FDA requires a 6 month or 1 year exp. on all scripts.

6 months would not effect the efficacy of the drug.

If it is a legal prescription you don't have to worry at all. An employer cannot refuse to hire you for taking medications as prescribed. You can simply show them the prescription (if you start to suspect this is why they are not hiring you.)

Most employers are not out to hamper on codeine use, they're more concerned with the other opiod and illegal drugs.

You can always talk to the HR department when you get a chance and tell them straight up you took a PRESCRIBED oxycodone tablet.

Well Oxycodone is the same as Oxycontin. Oxycontin is the Brand name of Oxycodne. Percecet is Acetaminophen and Oxycodone. So Oxycodone alone is Oxycontin. And as long as it is perscribed to you there should be no problem.
