Yes, get a boutonniere. The rest of your story has nothing to do with this question.

If Bethany is not a good friend, just go with Nick and have a good time. Boutonnieres depends on the rest of your group--if all the girls are buying them, you should too. It's a nice touch anyway. You can get them for cheap at supermarket florists.

I say, GO TO PROM. Sucks that he broke up with her but she needs to face the facts and move on. As for you, enjoy your Prom... it is a very important day for a girl compared to her wedding! as for a boutonniere, have the flower as an accent color to whatever color dress you have. Most popular flowers are roses and carnations - you can also look up different types of flowers but the tradition is one simple flower with filler flower (leather leaf + baby's breath).

have fun and forget about Bethany - not your fault or your problem.. and go a head and get the boutonniere.... if you are still unsure you could just ask him.

best of luck and have fun at prom!

I'm pretty sure that is prom etiquette to get your date a boutonnière. When I went to prom, my date and I went and picked them out together so they would match. Good Luck with the ex-girlfriend, just have fun.
