you can't teach her to hold it. you can teach her not to go in the house by taking her out every time she has to go (every 2-3 hours and once in the night) and praising her after she does outside. if you cant do this because of work or school or for any reason, you aren't ready for a puppy and should look into getting an older dog.

Puppys really cant hold there bladder there not big enough. They should not have to wait long periods to go. You just have to be patient and wait untill they get bigger. Think about if you had a small bladder and had to wait all day, what would you do? Pee your pants eventually. Be patient and they will wait untill you get home. Remeber dogs don't like to go where they live if they are it is because they can not wait, think of them as a little baby. Good luck I have 3 6 month old puppy's.

You don't teach a pup to hold her bladder. Bladder control comes with age, just like with humans. Don't expect a pup younger than 14 weeks to "hold it" for more than 3 or 4 hrs. Be consistent, patient and resist the urge to scold when accidents happen.

As a rule, a puppy can only "hold it" for the number of months it has been alive + 1. So if you have a 4 month old puppy, he can reasonably hold his bladder for 5 hrs, no more.

For potty training, google "crate training"

Take your puppy out several times through the day and praise her when she goes outside. If she makes a mistake inside, pay attention to what clued you off that she needed to go...sniffing around, looking in corners...etc. Pick up on those cues and get her outside in time. Scold her and use some rolled up paper to make noise or lightly smack her back side with it (don't hurt her it won't help and may make it worse). Really your puppy wants to make you happy, but it takes time for her to learn where the right place to pee is. Even if you break her from doing it in one room on one type of floor she may seem to relapse trying a different type of floor or room. They will test the boundaries to find out what is ok. Mostly this is on you to pay lots of attention for a few weeks and do the best you can to help her do the right thing and get the praise. At night you can keep her in a dog crate and let her out first thing in the morning and make her go last thing before you go to sleep.

good luck

Until a puppy is older, maybe never depending on the size/breed. You just have to take them out more often to use the bathroom. Their bladders are only so big. : )

Unfortunately, a puppy can be potty trained but can not be taught to hold its bladder.

When they reach adulthood, they'll have a better control over it and you won't have as many problems.
