1 Corinthians 9:24-27
"Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. Therefore I do not run like a man running aimlessly; I do not fight like a man beating the air. No, I beat my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize."
I like this one because I'm a runner ;-).
We have so much to thank God for, and I cannot wait to receive my eternal crown, only to lay it at the feet of Jesus.

Mat 6:25 "Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?
Mat 6:26 Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?
Mat 6:27 And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?
Mat 6:28 And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin,
Mat 6:29 yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
Mat 6:30 But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?
Mat 6:31 Therefore do not be anxious, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?'
Mat 6:32 For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all.
Mat 6:33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
Mat 6:34 "Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

Psalm 121 is nice.
"I raise my eyes to the mountains - from where will my help come? My help comes from the Lord, maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot give way; your guardian will not slumber. Behold, the Guardian of Israel neither slumbers nor sleeps! The Lord is your guardian, the Lord is your protection at your right hand. By day the sun will not strike you, nor the moon by night. The Lord will guard you from all harm; he will guard your soul. The Lord will guard your going out and your coming in from now until eternity."
yosef karduner sings a nice version of it:

Proverbs 3:5-7
Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thy own understandings.
In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths.
Be not wise in thine own eyes, but fear the Lord and depart from evil.
I have loved this verse since I was a little child, because it so simply states what to do in serving the Lord. Trust Him, let Him lead you, stay away from evil. So simple and yet so comforting.
(and for the non-believers who are going to comment on why does the verse say to 'fear' the Lord cause shouldn't we not be afraid of God, let me just say that the word fear here means respect. To respect the Lord being aware of what He's capable of)

I love the verse in Luke....23rd chapter, I believe...where the thief hanging on the cross beside Jesus says "Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom" and Jesus says to him "I tell you truly, today you will be with me in paradise." It totally exemplifies the sacrifice and the mercy of Jesus....that he would actually be unselfish enough to make the effort to comfort a common criminal while he, himself, was dying in pain as well. It's why I'm a Christian.

Matthew 6:5-6. It's the one about going into your closet and praying in private, not shouting on the street corners like the hypocrites.

Ps. 83:18; that people may know that you whose name is Jehovah You alone are the most high over all the earth.
I love this one I think because I run into so many people that think Jesus is God and God is Jesus. But for me this scripture states that Jehovah is the most high. Also that God does have a name. It has helped me to drawl close to him. I never liked that people stated that they love God, yet didn't use his name. I also feel that if he didn't want people to use it then he sure wouldn't of put it in the Bible..

I just know I'm going to get flak for this, but Psalm 137 is pretty much my favorite part of the Bible because of the songs based on it.

Philippians 4:13 - - it's gotten me through some tough times. St. Paul wrote it from the depths of a Philippian dungeon.

Hail Hail!
"Jesus said to Philip:
"I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but by me." - John 14:6.
It is my favourite because Jesus is very clear here.
He shows the ONLY way.
In this simple phrase He encloses all we need to know, to believe and to do.
This verse fills my heart with peace and joy.
Thanks for your offer.
I will ask you when the need comes.
