Why does my Mom sit in front of the TV, flipping through the channels for a few hours at a time?

MAYBE SHE HAS NOTHING TO DO SHE MAY NEED TO SPEND SOME TIME WITH U OF SOMEONE IN THE HOUSE TO TAKE HER MIND OFF T.V FOR A WHILE

Let her on the computer and put her on here and then she can ask questions or answer questions to keep her mind of watching the flippin channels.. Geez Im 42 and have not sat in front of the TV in days.. Only time I do is when someone else is on the computer..if you got her involved she would have other things to think about, and who knows maybe find a new hobby.. Now Go get her and let her have the computer..parents need to have fun too...

Does she have an eight hour day and then have to come home and cook and clean for her family? Does she get appreciated by her family? Does she and your father have a good relationship?

Maybe she's really unhappy and just needs to escape reality for a few hours.

Try talking to her about it...or better yet, suggest that the two of you go for a walk.

Well, I'll tell you why I do it sometimes.....because my SON gives me so much attitude, sometimes all I can do is kind of zone out and go into a trance. Maybe that's what your mom is doing. Try helping her more around the house and not giving her too much lip.

Perhaps she has nothing better to do with herself - it is quite sad, actually. Spend some quality time with her and be a good son.
