I am a good kid, i do well in school, and i do what i am asked to do. I really want a new cell phone. I got a Fusic in Dec. 2006 and now in march 2007 my phone broke because my brothers friend broke the screen. My mom didn't care. The insurance company wont let me get a new phone unless we pay $200.00 so i had to get the fusic again. And i hate them by the way. I was on sprint looking at the kinds of phones they had becasue in December i get to trade it in for another one. I really like one so i showed my mom. She said that at christmas she would look at them. when christmas cames around she said that i would have to pay for it.... I want it as my christmas present. not as me paying for my own Christmas present and she just told me a few minutes ago that i had to clean up my brothers stuff. including socks shoes bedroom and all of that. He isnt hurt or anything he is perfectly normal. But she treats me LIKE TRASH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you mean she told u to do that (clean your brothers stuff) in order to get a cell phone then yes that is completely unfair, not to mention stupid. I know it's hard as a young person, but you should she just tell your mom that you think her position is completely unfair and then JUST DROP THE SUBJECT. The issue of whether you should have one or need one or whatever the case should become irrelevant to you, at least as she sees your attitude. Just drop it and show her that you have more self respect than to allow her to manipulate you in this way. What seems like a big deal to you now is so rediculously unimportant, you will be able to look back and laugh at this in a few years. Show some integrity on this one.

I'm sorry! That's no fun...I have four brothers and I sympathize with you!!! Maybe you can get your mom to go halfway on a phone with you now...we've had pretty good luck finding nice used phones on E-Bay...just make sure that you call your phone company and check if the phone you want will indeed work with your plan and stuff! :) Unfortunately, although it's not fun and certainly frustrating (sometimes beyond belief) having a phone of your own is still a privilege, not a right. :( Try talking with your parents at a time when emotions aren't flying around, explain to them why you're feeling the way you do. If you don't think that's possible, you can always write them a letter. It might sound cheesy, but that way you can get out all of your feelings without being interrupted. It's worth a try! Good luck!!! :)

You may be over reacting. I feel the same way all the time. Believe me. But look a tit from your moms point of view too.

But, she may just be trying to instill responsibility. Even if its not your fault the phone broke, in a few years mom wont be there to buy new ones. And as for not liking the phone, you'll have to get over that. If it calls people, even if its ugly or bulky, thats all you actually need.

I dont know how old you are.

But, i am 21 and if i was in this situation...i would...

keep your phone...cell phones really arent what life are all about.

Ask your mom why your brother can't clean his own room.
And if she asks you to just do it "for her"

DO IT.

It won't kill you. But trust me...wouldnt you rather when begging for your new phone next december have a LONG list of NICE stuff you do for everybody in the house than a SHORT one...makes since right?

IM a lil selfish i tend to spin things so that i see how it benefits me...lol

from one mom I am sorry about how we treat our kids. My 16 year old wants cell phone but it really costs a lot to sign up for one even if it is shared minutes with the same company. I have told him he has to have a job, because it has a monthly fee too. be nice to your mom and dont be so demanding. be glad you have one. get a job and get your own cell phone plan. ask for an Ipod instead.

Sorry, but I had to laugh at your last sentence. Why don't you look at it like this: If you want the phone, and your mother told you to clean up your brother's socks, etc., THAT MIGHT BE A GOOD OPPORTUNITY TO EARN BROWNIE POINTS. Help her around the house and don't complain about it.

Well as for the phone if your willing to wait until christmas and want it as a christmas present then i don't understand why you would have to pay for it. And the whole cleaning your brothers room thats just stupid.

whenever you get a phone keep it safely hidden, tell that kid's parents what he did, anyway no kid needs a phone, no normal mom tells a kid to clean his brother's room -now what is the reason for that?
