Yes you need it for the military or any other job you apply for for that matter. Look up your local social security office in the phone book and go there with all of your other ID cards plus your birth certificate to request a duplicate card.

And yes a recruiter can verify your ssn, but you will need to show your card in person before shipping to boot camp.

you should seem into the marines first. How? communicate with a recruiter at your college or flow to the nearest recruiting station/call them. they're going to aks you questions. verify you tell them what you want. you should seem into the military too, you'll locate them more advantageous suitable, its continuously strong to seem in any respect of your evaluations. I regarded into the Marines, military nationwide look after and the common (lively) military. I swore in Oct. 6,2008 and could be going to person-friendly when I graduate extreme college. you are able to also ask the recruiters in case you are able to workout recurring with them. i be conscious of my recruiting station over right here, they have workout recurring days a million-2 a week. you are able to also ask in the journey that they could get you a free-health center club, i be conscious of my military recruiters can attempt this. you want your verify's consent at 17, i'm no longer particular in case you want both even if (i don't believe of you do).

I assume you mean the Marine Corps. You dont need it because the recruiter can get an SSN verification done at the Social Secruity office.

we misplaced my sons just prior to him leaving and we had to rush to the SSN office get a new one issued but they gave us a letter to take that DAY that states SSN of [NAME] is true and real and the new card is being issued etc etc.....this was enough for MEPS but the moment I got the new one I had to send it to basic...the letter will get you thru so long as the actual card arrives during basic...I overnight-ed it to him the day it arrived.
Hopefully you have the time left to get your new one issued prior to leaving.

Good luck

Birth certificate and a valid drivers license or state id normally suffice. So the answer is no if you have those other forms of identification...

I don't think so, but you should have a copy on hand anyway. Go to the local SS office, it doesn't take very long at all.
