What skullduggery do we plan to do in our privacy?

My wife just said, "Get laid". Well, I will give her that point; but then I didn't know when to shut up, so I said "Well, it is not natural for us to want to do that in privacy; because animals in the wild are not embarassed by doing it in public." (Then she gave me the razz.)

So, notwithstanding my big mouth, Why do we need privacy?

Dear "skippy" - Well, if you really wanted to know them, I am sure you could get them without my giving them to you. -- smiles

The right of privacy is fundamental to freedom. Think about the government being able to enter your home without due process and it becomes very important. Lack of privacy equals control by someone with which you may or may not agree.

Good question. I don't know about all of you, but if I'm around a large group of people for long durations I start getting annoyed with them. Especially if they piss me off. That's when I need privacy (otherwise I'll lose my temper). I also like being alone with my own thoughts for introspection and relaxation.

To keep from going completely bonkers. We need private time to relax and rest, and the sense there are some things that are exclusive to ourselves. It's part of self-esteem, integrity of personality and sense of self. Even in the most primitive societies there are places and things that exclusive to individuals. Those who believe we don't need privacy are most intent on controlling our behavior and making us comply with their ideas of "morality."

Can I have your name, address, phone number, mother's maiden name, and social security number?

No?

Why not? Are they PRIVATE perhaps?

In short, we need privacy to protect ourselves. Plus, if we want privacy (which we do) why shouldn't we have it? Isn't it part of the Pursuit of Happiness?

We don't need privacy, *many* just desire it. With a mind comes desires, intentions and many other things, and with that comes unique personalities.

Well I personally don't want to know everything about everyone I meet. Makes it easier to get along.
