I am English but I love wearing my kilt. It's not a traditional tartan (no clan, but then not them horrid camo ones either, just nice and simple), I have a nice black rabbit fur sporran to match and a Lamont pin as Lamont is the closest clan to me (my grandparents surname is Turner which is related to Lamont).
Anyway, my point is I love wearing it as it's a lot less restrictive than jeans and I look good in it cause I have a decent enough body and legs. Only problem is I'm not Scottish in the slightest so I get the odd person saying I have no right and questioning why I wear it. But how is wearing a kilt without being Scottish any different to white guys listening to hip hop, or wearing a Man Utd top when you're not from Manchester?!
Just wondered on your opinions.
p.s. My great great uncle was in a Black Watch but that don't make any difference.

Yes. Women have nicked mensware more so after the 80,s. Infact they are crossdressers. The Anglo Saxon men wore skirts and eventually men started to wear long pants, trousers when fighting on horse back as skirts would get in the way. Women tended to wear longer skirts. As time passed the wearing of trousers were more practical for the milatry and certain types of work. But when you think of the male anatomy in the nether region it doesnt make sense to wear trousers unless you have a lower guset. In reality it would make more sense for men to wear a skirt than women if worn in a male way. So as not to look like some kind of cross dresser. Mind you though maybe not when doing ladder work or simular. So yes Kilts are fine for Anglo Saxons and Britans.

Well, if your great great uncle was Black Watch, you DO have Scottish blood, don't you?
The kilt is not just Scottish (though primarily so), but Celtic, so the Irish and the Welsh tend to wear them as well. If you want to wear it, be yourself and wear it. I agree that not enough men wear the kilt.

My friend Andy wears a kilt to school sometimes...
Hes not scottish somehow i think thats just to freak the teachers out though... i don't belive it would be offensive to wear a kilt if you want to go for it. If people ask say
"you're bringing sexy back" LOL or something similar:)

Someone said the Welsh wear kilt. The Welsh do not wear kilt. I gather the person who wrote this has never been to Wales or Europe.

wow...i love a man in a kilt...you found my weakness. I think its cool to do what pleases you and ignore those who would try to make you feel like it is inappropriate. I only wish more men would wear kilts...

You can wear whatever you want, its your image and your body. If its comfortable, why not (just as long as its appropriate) go ahead. ^_^
