The concept of the Jewish Messiah - the man who is set apart to bring salvation to mankind - was a long-held belief in their scriptures / tradition at the time. Jews were actually waiting for him. When Jesus came there were several reasons people began to believe he was the "promised one:"

- Jesus spoke the word of God in a way that was so freeing and convicting to people, rang so true with people, and authentic authority that to people who followed God, it sounded like Him speaking to them.

- He proved himself to be a wise teacher, who had incredible insight into the things of God, even at age 12.

- He demonstrated authority over nature (calming a storm with a word, ordering a sick person's body to become well again, etc.), which God has.

- He said he was eternal at one point, and said he was one with God... yet DID NOT try to control their lives and oppress them (like a cult leader). People followed him by free will, and he freely associated with their families which deceptive cult leaders never do.

- He showed compassion and zeal at the same time. He stood up for the poor, defended people who had little or nothing to offer him.

- He asked his disciples who THEY thought he was - and one responded that he was Messiah. He said GOD had revealed that, not man. So the disciples prayed and let God show them the truth about Jesus, so they believed it.

- He was publically executed, then later came back to them...at one point he even spoke to a crowd of 500+. People testified in Roman court that they saw him, and the penalty for perjury then was upside-down crucifixion. Many of those who testified were not even Jesus' followers.

Over all - people believed in him because God REVEALED the truth about him. Same as he does today, when people sincerely ask. :-)

According to the christian bible, he didn t admitted that he was the messiah or the son of God, but he neither denied it...and the silence many times speaks louder than the voice...it is only a matter of belief...something new came and people liked it, so they accepted him as the son of a God they didn't even know...

Maybe Jesus was really; " Mary " after all. Men would not have accepted these same philosophies from a woman.

It was the miracles. The people had to see him do things man couldn't do before they believed. Hopefully we can learn from what they saw.
