Didn't know there was an age requirement. I'm mom to 3 and they've had a little chocolate milk since age 2 or 3. Not often but still, they had some.

I started offering when my daughter turned five b/c she doesn't drink milk. She only started liking chocolate at 4 years. Even now she won't drink it-she just doesn't like milk. I've seen it in baby bottles-ughhh. I would have let her as toddler if she liked chocolate just to get her to have the calcium. I don't think it is that bad if you make with skim or 1% with the syrup(small amount). It's probably as much sugar(or less) as those fruit drinks even the 100% juice has sugar!

Every mother's oppinon is diffrent. My son is not aloud to have chocolate milk till he is 5 and even then only once in a grate while. Chocolate is a type of sugar and i try to insure that he has only a little sugar in his dite (he gets one sugary treat a week at age 2 and still it's only a small one)

My mother-in-law gave my youngest chocolate milk at about 1-1/2-2 years old...man was I mad!...I believe that, that is too young...it starts a sweet tooth, too early in life...I personally would have waited, like with my first I think she was about 4 or 5 years old..and as a treat!

I let mine at about 2 or whenever they can tolerate whole milk.
But be warned mine loved it so much they had to have it first thing every morning. And then they would not eat their breakfast from being so full of chocolate milk. Another bad thing is you don't want them to have to have chocolate in their milk to drink it. I eventually weened them off and only give it to them occasionally.

My son started drinking it at 2 and he only gets one glass every morning as soon as he wakes up. It's like a ritual with him now (he is VERY structured and he wants it that way) and if we are out it is scary! Lol. My daughter just started drinking it this year and she turned 2 in November and only drinks half a glass before nap and before bed.
