my ex called me out of the blue telling me we need to talk about us. not that im interested,but if he was planning on doing this then why hasnt he called back once he got off work. which i know his routine. he goes home and watch tv by 6. and its almost 9. so why would he call me and stir me up. most guys when they are broke up if they have plans to try and come back they would have broke their neck to make that call once they get off work. but hes taking his time calling me back and i know he isnt doing anything. im just being nosey and curious to why would he call me and tell me that i never call back. please no smart remarks becuz i really dont have time for sarcastic remarks. if you feel you have to be smart mouth then dont respond. but all other i would appreciate your thought on this ty.

he just want to validate that you are thinking about him. guys do that in order to make them feel important . he just wanted to know if you are still thinking about him

Maybe he is trying to seem uninterested so you don't think he still wants to be with you. Or, he could have simply forgotten if something came up. I would wait a few days and call him and ask as if I had forgotten and say something like " I forget was I supposed to call you the other day?'
