Without a doubt hopefully we can get something done on this issue cause it's getting very old. ACLU needs to focus on Americans not illegals.

Well as I read it it's not a bad idea. It may not have all the answers, but it looks like they just got tired of waiting on the Government to do it's job. It gives some type of starting point. What would be better is 1:Take everyone that can prove that they have been here for five years or more and where law biding. Make them permanent residents (because it is unfeasable to try to deport them all) That would put them into our tax system. There for adding to our tax income. 2: Create the guest worker program. This would also add to our tax base .Because such a program could do away with the cash paycheck. ie.. to continue qualification for the program you must show paycheck stubs and file some type of tax return. This would keep some of the money here. Instead of all of it going back to their home countries. 3: Once these programs are in place. Then we should make it a felony, not only to be here illegally, but for any one who knowingly hires an illegal immigrant. Now their are those who are going to say that this it rasist. Well nice try, but my last name is GARZA !!! And I'm an American of Mexican descent. Not a Mexican/ American. I am not a Mexican first and an American second. I am first and formost an American. If you , for what ever reason, were to crossed into Mexico illegally. It would be the Mexican Army that would pick you up. They do not have a boarder patrol. you would be charged in their country with the equivalent of a felony here. If found guilty(unless you can buy your way out) and because of internationl treaties. The US now considers you a convicted felon. When and if you ever get out of their prison system. You now wear that felony conviction for ever. What is good for the goose is good for the gander. If you want to get a grip on immigration you have to have the guts to start somewhere.

Never, people like that have no hearts or morality. Since everything is handed to them and they most likely have never experienced situations an illegal would, they don't understand. However people don't need to go through these things to understand, they just need to have half a brain and some type of heart. Seems like this group doesn't so no they are not worthy.

Yes, I support it, I signed the petition and it is well worthy of consideration. I admire Lou Barletta very much and I think he is an outstanding American citizen and I hope he and his city win their battle. I believe other cities will follow suit but they are waiting to see the outcome of the legal challenge because it will then have a huge snowball effect and I can't wait to see it!

Absolutely, but there's a problem with that document. It says that someone will not be considered an illegal alien unless the federal government verifies it.

If the federal government was not delinquent in its duties, this mayor wouldn't have to do what he's doing. But he is a good man for doing it!

no, this guy and many others need to realize that the reason why illegal immigration is such a problem is because we won't let the hard working ones into this country. There are so many strict regulations on letting people in that they are forced to illegally migrate. Not saying that all are good people but a vast majority are just looking for a way to support there family. And if we allowed more to migrate here legally it would be easier to catch the bad ones since they'd be the only ones sneaking across. We need to realize that the illegal immigration problem is not because of a bunch of workers who can't pass the tests, its a bunch of people who can't wait four years to get into this country, else there family's suffer.

Yes, I support the mayor of Hazelton. Shame on our government for doing nothing and shame on the ACLU. I signed the petition, we'll find out in a few days.

I support Hazelton, I don't see anything wrong with their fight to remove the illegal alien problem from their city.
