ok, when she did my tattoo she went way to deep. i should have known because it doesnt usually bother me and when she was doing it, it hurt really bad, but i thought hey, i dont have one on my shoulder blade and it could hurt more then i thought it would. the tattoo lost a lot of its color too...and as for the scarring, its bad, but its soft scar tissue...and it was like over a year ago that i got it.

You should find a good tattoo artist and get his/her opinion on it. They should be able to give you a realistic answer. It is hard to say whether or not it is fixable without actually seeing your tattoo.

most tattoo artists would be able to cover any mistakes up. whether you want the original one restored or if you want something totally different, it should be fixable. and as far as getting a tat over a scar and it not coming out as good, thats bull, bc a friend of mine had a huge scar on her stomache from a surgery (life threatening) so the scarring wasnt as neat or small as it could have been, it was a bad scar, so she got this huge tattoo to cover it, and it looks amazing, she got an all black rose, kind of tribal, it is amazing.

I always heard that it was bad to tattoo over scars because the colors don't come out right. You should probably go into a tattoo shop and ask if they would be able to correct it. Tattoo artists are so nice and helpful to answer questions.

Scarring can be sometimes be caused by a bad tattooist was this the case? Some tattoists will try to fix it others will say they wont go near scar tissue. If there is severe scarring obviously the skin becomes tougher thus making it harder for the needle to penetrate the skin and to get a clear line in.

My best friend had this problem. Her scaring was very very bad, and my tattoo artist told her that getting tattooed again would cause the scar tissue to tear open and it would cause a lot more problems. Be careful about what you do.
