It sounds like there is no reason for this to cause you to get fat.

Unless you have a doctor-diagnosed medical reason for your weight gain - then the only reason is poor self discipline.

I dont know which branch you are refering to but In the Army while you are on profile ht/wt standards are dismissed ONLY if your medical condition prevents you from maintaining weight ie broken leg or something that keeps you from exercising.

If you are on an official Army given profile, then you have the length of your profile before you are required to have to either take a pt test or make ht/wt. example, if your profile is 3 months then you have 3 months from AS SOON as you come off of profile to get back within standards.

ref. AR 600-9

What service? for Navy (and I assume all others) body composition standards (height weight, body fat) must be met irregardless of ability to perform any other part of the PFA

You have 90 days before you are rquired to meet the standards. Then you can be flagged.

If you go on a medical profile or are deployed you have a 90 day grace period. In fact now of days, you do not have to pass to go to a NCOES.
