I once was cyber-chatting and someone said that there were no Mormons in HIS town. I asked, why do you think that? He said, because there was no listing in his Yellow Pages for the Mormon Church. I said, look for our official name, the Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-day Saints. He was then surprised t learn that there were indeed MANY Mormons in his town!

I want to thank all the Mormons who answer, but I'm really interested in the non-Mormons opinions. Especially if they look it up.
Thanks!

Lots and lots. I live in Utah. Look it up in the yellow pages for the Saratoga Springs/Lehi area. There are 17 pages of churches. I'd say that's a lot. Since we have lived in this area, our ward (congregation) has split 6 times, and our stake (larger congregation) has split 5. We have been out here for 6 years. That tells you something. There are now 3 new buildings out this way, and they are planning at least 3 more. One is starting to be built right now, and that will mean that there are only 3 wards in our building, instead of 4, so maybe we will get a better church time instead of our 2:30 time. We can only hope!!!

There are lot that live in my city or town and it is not just because i live in Utah. I live in area where the missionary program is the growing in the state. So it seems like almost every week at least a missionary is bringing someone to church or getting baptized. It is really interesting I know that there are at least four stakes in city that i live in. I do not want to guess how many wards and how many people belong to each ward.

Actually there are quite a number of Mormons in the city where I live.......We not only have one ward using the Mormon church, but two....I happen to know quite a few of them also.....of course that could be because my Daughter in Law was raised Mormon......

I am not sure how many are in my town. I know of at least one LDS that will be moving into a house about a mile from me. I go to the Brooksville Florida Ward. When I go onto our Ward site it looks as though we have 1800 members. I imagine most of them must have since moved or be inactive as there does not seem to be more than 100 in the Ward on Sundays.

In Lubbock my guess is there are around 1200. In my ward there are close to 400, but we have the biggest of the 4 wards and 1 branch.
Michael, I didn't know you were from Hobbs! That's cool!
Wow, and Jennifer's from Portales, cool.

There are about 180 active members in our ward in Portales, NM - but I think closer to 500. College town, so who knows when they come and go :0)

I don't know, but there is a Mormon temple about 8 miles from me. No offense, but you are deceived by the book of Mormon.
You don't believe Jesus Christ is God of Very God.

Not that many.
I just checked with the Australian Bureau of Statistics, and according to the 2001 Census, there are none in this suburb.
