I started taking Lexapro less than a week ago. I was already having my normal spring allergies. Is it possible that side effects from my Claritin (yes I checked with my doctor) AND the Lexapro combined is why I'm feeling sooo much worse than past years? Sleepy, burning eyes, dry mouth, icky taste in mouth...scratchy throat...etc

I have never taken Claritin, but I was on Lexapro for a month. I had all of those symptoms, as well as, nausea. My advice would be to wait it out another week. Sometimes the side effects subside once your system adjusts to the medication. If it doesn't get better, ask your doctor to try a different prescription. Good luck!

It is normal to have worse side effects for the first few weeks that you take an anti-depressant. It should get better for you soon. I have taken many of these type meds over the years and believe me, I am very familiar with them. I have GAD (general anxiety disorder) Good luck to you.

I'm taking it and haven't noticed the side effects. The doctor warned me about a few like weight gain, but that hasn't happened yet.
