I ask this before and totally screwed up I giving it another shot. I want to join the military but I know I can not make it in the seals right now. I was wondering since I want to finish up my four year degree I still have two years left. I was wondering if I trained according to a navy seal workout (i got this from a recruiter not a tv ad) would that be a sufficent amount of time to prepare myself.

It would be a good start...it would be hard to train by yourself at home.....
You couldn't duplicate the scenarios But getting in good physical and mental shape will be a help

I think it would if you work on the same regimen of exercises that a SEAL would in training. You need mental conditioning more than anything to be SEAL.

But in all honesty you should consider becoming an officer if you are finishing up a 4 year degree, especially if it is in engineering or business management. A BS is usually better in the military than a BA. I am in an officer's program right now myself, and I have 11 years in.

After that, you could consider becoming a UDT (SEAL) officer. You will still have to go through their 32 or 36 week boot camp right there with the rest of the grunts, the only difference is that the Company Commanders (D.I's for the Navy) will call you 'sir' when they scream in your face!

Talk to an Officer Recruiter, not the Enlisted Recruiter. They usually like to talk to you 4-6 months before graduation.

Good luck.

Here's the piece I think you're missing... you don't sign up at the recruiter's office to be a SEAL. You join the Navy, choose an MOS that positions you well for applying to attend BUDS. Then you spend every minute of every day while you're NOT a SEAL, proving to the Navy that you deserve a shot at BUDS... Then, when you GET to BUDS... you gut it out.

It's not just about being fit. It's about showing the drive and determination, the motiviation and the commitment, the discretion and the intelligence to be a contributing member of a SEAL team.

The biggest reason most guys fail out of BUDS is that they just can't mentally hack it. The SEALs have a saying " The only easy day was yesterday." Not being a quitter mentally is how you make it through. A good book to read is "The warrior elite." I can't remember who wrote it but the author was allowed to go along with a class and record the training, well most of it . It is a good book for those wanting to tryout. I have known a few seals and the mental aspect is what makes it for you.

You can prepare yourself physically, but until you've been immersed in that bone chilling water over and over and over and over to the point of near hypothermia you won't find out if you've got what it takes.
