Normal cells in the body usually touch each other and stop growing/expanding at that point. It's called "contact inhibition". With cancer, cells lose their "contact inhibition" and continue to grow and replicate when they should stop. This causes a tumor to grow. If tumors are genetically aggressive or advanced, the cancer cells can break off and spread either through blood or the lymphatic system and set up tumor colonies in other parts of the body. This is known as "metastatic" cancer, and generally gives a much worse outlook, or prognosis. Chemotherapy or radiation can sometimes be used to attack the abnormal, rapidly dividing cancer cells while affecting to a lesser degree the normal surrounding cells.

There are three stages of cancer.
Initiation,
promotion
and acceleration.
Initiation is 1 part genetic, 1 part geographical.
We are all subject to countless toxins and cancer causing substances. IInitiation is inevitable. They are everywhere, in the air you breathe, the food you eat, the water you drink, and, yes, even passed down through the genes. Geographical meaning that humans, regardless of ethnic background, have a tendency to express the diseases specific to where they live. For instance, there is a very low percentage of women in Asia who have breast cancer, but Asians who live in America are subject to the same percentages of the disease.

Contrary to popular belief, there HAVE been studies (thousands of them!) done in relation to cancer/diet that have proven that a diet high in fiber (only found in plants) and vitamins/minerals (again, only found in plants) and plant proteins retard the promotion of cancer, (a VERY critical thing, given the fact that we all have cancer causing cells present in our bodies) whereas a diet rich in animal protein promotes the growth of cancer cells.
While genetics DO play a part, the percentage is small. (only 2 -3%) So even though you may be 'predisposed' to certain types of cancer, contrary to popular opinion, YOU ultimately have control over your health, by eating a diet that is rich in animal fiber & proteins.
Acceleration is when you have the cancer in your body, 'fed' the cells through a diet rich in animal proteins, and it has mutated and taken on a life of it's own. In some cases, this can be halted and even reversed. So while your MD (who is trained in medicine and not nutrition) may tell you that there is little or no connection between nutrition and cancer, there are a huge number of studies to prove otherwise. Surprise you? Blew me away, but the proof simply cannot be denied. There is a very good reason why you (and millions of others) have not heard this information before. It has to do with the multiBILLION dollar food industry.

Cancer is an abnormal growth of cells. The cancer cells grow so rapidly that they overcome/destroy healthy cells. Different cancers grow in different systems of the body and each has its own “personality”. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Cancer is really an umbrella for a whole host of diseases--syndromes usually, and there are so many different types and forms and therefore treatments for it. Some are more treatable than others. Some are very aggressive and very often there are no symptoms until it's advanced too far to stop. Early detection is the key, so never ignore unusual symptoms of unwellness.

PUT VERY SIMPLY cancer it the loss of ability for cells to know their limitations.
IT is where cells begin to split at an abnormal rate.
THis can be controlled with chemotherapy which kills of the rapidly mutiplying cells.
SOmetimes it works other times it doesnt.
I hope this is simple enough for you.

Cancer- a terrible, horrible disease that NO ONE should ever ever ever ever have to be affected by either directly or otherwise. It isn't contagious.
