Let her go shes 14 and about to be 15 in october and she needs to be a free person to experience of what not to do and what to do.
If shes the kinda person who learns from their mistakes then let her go cause she will learn soon enough that mothers are always right and soon she'll get better about her mistakes.
Now if she is the type of person that listens to your mistakes then let her decide if she'll listen to her mom or try to do it her way.

I have three girls and they have been spending the night with select friends since they were 6. We started with overnights with Grandma & Grandpa or their baby sitter once in a great while when they were 4. Then it was the best friend just down the street (I never let them do an overnight unless I really know the parents & family really well). My girls are 15, 13 & 10 and I am still very protective of who & when they do overnights. Personally I prefer to be the hostess & usually invite one friend for each girl all at the same time. It's easier to do the group thing lol!!! Relax a bit and have some fun with your daughter, invite a bunch of her friends over and make popcorn, watch movies and play silly games! Just because she spends the night at someone else's house doesn't mean she will loose her innocence....she probably knows a lot more than you think she does! If you don't start letting go, she will start to resent your hold on her and will bolt as soon as she turns 18! Good luck & best wishes.

Never. Listen you need to trust your instincts on this. I'm a Teacher, and you and I both know that 14 year old know more about sex and drinking more than some adults. My sister is 16, and many of the girls in her upperclass highschool are now young alcoholics..Your daughter wont die or burst into flames if she doesnt particpate in sleepovers..If she wantssleeovers that bad, make them come to your house and monitor, monitor, monitor.

Edit-------The girl below me is a Perfect Example of why we must monitor our daughters. Look at what a foulmouth scumbag she is. Like I said--no sleepovers, especially since someone like her might show up.

Let her go, my kids spent the night over friends houses when they were young as well. Have faith and trust and just talk to her about the right and wrong things to do. She will be fine.

i'm a mother and i know it's a difficult thing to let our children go and do things with their friends -- staying overnight, especially. she really needs social interaction with her friends; however, you are the one who has to decide if it's time.

you have to have trust and faith in your daughter. i don't think it's an "age issue" it's a TRUST issue.

even though we'd like to shelter them from the world forever, our kids need some freedom to get out into the world and explore.....

all the best!

At her age, I think girls should be allowed to have and go to sleepovers. My daughter is 12 and has been going to sleepovers and has had a few for the past 1.5 years.

i think 13 was a good age i know you think your child will be innocent forever, but it is not that way ,if you trust her as much as you think let her go and if thers boys ther i say forget about it untill shes 16.
