Why do the same people that accept homosexuality think sex between a consenting minor and a middle aged man is disgusting? If you accept the first why not the latter?

one is an act between two consenting adults, who have (supposedly) reached the age of reason. one is a crime that manipulates a child for the sexual gratification of an adult.

I accept homosexuality, if they are adults and of legal age to consent. It all has to do with what our society deems an acceptable age to consent to sex. I personally believe the age should be reduced to 16. Not because I feel that 16 year olds should be having sex (they will whether it's legal or not), but because I feel it's stupid for a 18 or 19 year old to be marked as a sex offender for the rest of their live just because their girl friend is younger than they are.

Because our acceptance of homosexuality is based on the idea that 2 consenting ADULTS should have the right to do as they please sexually.
We know that a minor is a minor because they are not legally consenting. Legal consent is based on the notion that a person who isn't finished growing mentally, such as teenagers, is not in a position to make the kind of informed decision that it takes to fully comprehend the consequences of their choices. Adults have a responsibility to protect minors from themselves.

Levianty and some others have the right of it: Minors are not old enough - no, sorry, not experienced enough - to really think that decision through for themselves such that they aren't being influenced by the older party. It's a power differential - the older guy is using the younger person. It's like a really drunk girl who 'consents' to having sex - her powers of reason are not all there, and the guy who takes advantage of that, well, he's a sicko too.

Because a homosexual relationship that we have no problem with consists of two consenting adults. The other one doesn't.
Here's the thing. You can't outlaw something because you think it's disgusting. I think the idea of Bush having sex is disgusting, but we can't outlaw that, can we? However, someone forcing a minor to have sex when they can't legally consent IS illegal, for very good reasons.
If you can't think of a reason to dislike homosexuality besides 'it's disgusting', you're going to have to admit that you really don't have any more case to ban it than I do to keep Bush from having sex.

Because people under the age of consent are very rarely sexually experienced enough and mature enough to be able to give meaningful consent. Therefore they can be exploited or taken advantage of for the worst, leaving them mentally anguished.
Homosexual sex is normally, like heterosexual sex, between consenting adults of approximately the same age. They both enter into a sexual relationship informed about it's implications and emotionally prepared (unless they are very stupid and very drunk).

1) I accept homosexuality.
2) A consenting minor may not fully understand everything. A child COULD consent to surgery... but does the child really understand all the pros, cons and consequences? *BTW: I'm in an ethics class ALL about this sort of stuff*
3) It's not necessarily disgusting as it is morally wrong.

There is a huge difference between being homosexual and being a pedophile!Even if the minor is consenting it is still wrong.As for being homosexual or otherwise I could care less so long as they are both consenting adults!

As you figured from the answers you got, people don't seem to know the meaning of the term "consent". Either that or they think minors are plain stupid and develop an adult mind the night before their 18th birthday.

I don't "accept" either. I tolerate sex between consenting adults because it doesn't bother me who people sleep with. Homosexuals may be going to hell (if that is what you believe), but there are a lot of perfectly straight people going right along with them. Sex with minors, though, goes beyond religion. I comes down to adults, being in a position of authority, can abuse that authority by taking advantage of their naivete.

Because sex with minors is unequivocably harmful to the child.
Sex between consenting adults is not. (Or at least the gender of the participants is no guide to whether it is or not).
It has nothing to do with what you personally find disgusting or not - that is a question of taste, not morality.
