It needs to be short. It has to be a 12 gauge. And it needs to be able to shoot 3 &1/2 in shells. Also it needs to be less than 500 dollars.

I don't know of anything in that price range in a double that will shoot 3-1/2". Any 3-1/2" guns I've seen are pumps or autoloaders. Most doubles are chambered for 2-3/4" and 3".
The Stoeger Coach gun has 20" barrels and is chambered for 3". Your local dealer should be able to order one for right around $300.
I've had an Uplander (side by side) .410 for quite a while and it's still a great shooting gun with a nice tight action.
They're a great gun for the price.

Stoeger is your closest bet, but it will NOT shoot 3 n 1/2" shells. It IS way below five bills. That said, look for a 10 gauge double if you STILL want to shoot 3 n 1/2" shells out of a double, but I doubt you can find one with shorter than 30" barrels.

If you REALLY want to shoot 3 1/2" shells in a coachgun, be my guest. That's not too high on my list of priorities. That said, I don't know of any with a 3 1/2" chamber, only 2 3/4" and 3".

Why do you need 31/2 inch shells, which are mainly for hunting in a short barrelled coach gun? Go with the coach gun recommended by bferg and shoot buck shot in 3in shells. These are cool guns and worth the price.

there are O/U shotguns that are chambered for 3.5 inch shells i think 26" barrel will be the shortest you find and that is a tough one. 28 inch is gonna do it. 500 bucks is going to be near impossible cuz the only 3.5 i found was a browning citori.
I agree with the rest on the side by side Stoeger
Check the Mossberg website for their reserve O/U
it runs 500

No one makes a side by side 12 with magnum chambers. Most folks have sense.

You....buy a Norinco coach gun ($230) with 3" chambers and then spend another $50-75 having a gunsmith ream it for you.

After a few years when you've never fired more than three 3 1/2" shells through it, just think about how much fun you coulda had with that $50-75.

definite, a 12 guage is a shown manstopper. Use #2 to #4 lead buckshot. 00 dollar will honestly wade with the aid of partitions. So will any slugs, and different such outsized quotes. you do no longer choose that, because it places your spouse and different houseguests in possibility. additionally, steelshot is amazingly bouncy, and can ricochet decrease back at you. whilst i do no longer advise birdshot until eventually you reside in an residence, you ought to shop on with the smaller end of buckshot (i.e. #4). Realistically, that's all nevertheless a dense column of lead whilst it hits flesh. For wounding purposes, the size would not count very plenty. I shop my domicile 12g shotgun loaded with the 1st around birdshot. That way, if my first shot is slightly off, there is not any threat of penetrating the partitions with deadly consequence on the different area. nevertheless, an prompt hit from a 12 gauge, in spite of birdshot, is possibly to be deadly, and a minimum of crippling. each and each of something in the tube are #4 buckshot. besides the shown fact that, that's a pump shotgun. you in effortless terms get 2 photos, so cause them to the two count huge form, and cargo them with the dollar. Accuracy is "much less" needed, yet do no longer place self assurance in that. that's no longer in effortless terms like the shotguns in the previous arcade-sort "Contra" video games. you're in effortless terms finding a quite a few inches of unfold, no longer quite a few ft. additionally, concerning above comments, this is not any such ingredient as hollowpoints for shotguns. Shotguns hearth small pellets, no longer bullets. As for others' comments approximately being arranged, take them heavily. Being keen to kill to shelter your spouse and house is a necessity in case you will use a firearm. given which you reside in a distant area, you do not have a tricky time objective working in direction of. basically shop up your psychological preparedness. that's no longer sufficient to prefer to scare somebody, you will possibly prefer to be waiting and keen to kill them in the event that they pose a threat to you and yours. i'm specific you already are, that's basically worth asserting. To reiterate, your everyday question grow to be concerning combating skill. hence, you have chosen the very terrific weapon for domicile protection, because of the fact the 12 gauge is a devastatingly efficient weapon. it is going to do its pastime, in case you do yours. sturdy success.
