My straightening iron advertised it could do curls and such... but what is the proper technique to do this? My hair is fine, and I could use some body....

I have the Chi. Since it is so skinny; it can also be used as a curling iron. Use it the same way, just take a section which you want to curl, and take a small piece

take the chi and clamp the hair at the bottom and just curl the hair around it likeyou would a curling iron. putting a little gel/hairspray on the hair before you curl it will help keep the curl from coming undone. Hold the chi and the hair curled aorund it in place for about 30 sec

The Chi is awesome at curling! As a stylist, I sell just as many flat irons to straight hair people (for curling) as I do for straightening. There are many different curls you can accomplish with it. It just takes a little practice. Depending on the length of your hair, place the flat iron at the midshaft of the hair, clasp the iron shut and twist and slide in one fluid motion, continuing all the way down until the end of the hair slides through. If you stop or pause, you can end up with weird creases or lines. Experiment with larger or smaller sections of hair, but guaranteed the Chi will be your new best friend. Also, experiment with starting near the scalp or use it to just bump the ends.

I have fine hair too and I love to take about a 1-2 inch section of hair starting about 2 inches from the root. Put the hair in the Chi iron and rotate the iron as you pull it straight down through your hair to the tip. (You aren't starting at the tips and rolling up like you would a normal curling iron.) This will give loose pretty waves and a ton of volume. I figured this out by just trying different things with mine. Much to my surprise I have finally found a look I love!

I'm not sure, but it should. I don't use Chi, I think my mom gave her Revlon one.
