OK, the nose trick (as explained by another answerer) kind of grossed me out.
Tilt the glass when pouring so that the beer travels down the glass instead of just splashing in there and making the foam in the first place. You can also sprinkle a small amount of salt in the glass of beer.

the oil doesn't get rid of the foam its the break of the surface tension its like an invisible skin on liquids i did this for 8th grade science fill a cup of water really really full and start droppin quarters in even though they displace the liquid a little it doesn't spill over because surface tension holds it in but if u stick ur finger in it it breaks the tension and spills u can stick anything solid into a soda or beer and it'll make it disolve

I dont know if it works on beer-but it works on pop/soda. By putting your finger on the side of your nose you get some oils on it. When you put it on the foamy top of the beverage it makes the foam disappear.

I don't know what the nose trick is, but try tilting the glass when you pour. Also, if you throw a fw grains of rice in the glass before pouring, the rice will absorb some of the carbonation and keep it from getting too foamy (I learned that trick in GErmany)

nose, finger-doesn't matter, the oils from your skin are what gets rid of the foam
