I will be taking a plane down to Georgia in May and I wanted to know if anyone knew how safe is NWA (northwest airlines)? I am really scared to ride in a plane considering this is my first time. Does anyone have any tips to get over my fear?

Very safe.

Enjoy your flight. Send us a note when you are up there.

The scariest things for a first time flying is the bumps, knocks, and grinds. They are all normal; the rumble of the tarmac, the whine of the turbines, doors closing, gear raising and lowering, reverse thrusters, turbulence, etc...once you get used to the unfamiliar you will really enjoy flying.

Check this out. It might help a little.

Flying is the safest form of transportation. The United States has stringent rules that airlines must follow so that is why our airlines have one of the safest track records. Northwest Airlines is a very safe airline to fly and you should not have to worry about anything. Bring a book or listen to some music. You can also look outside the window. That is something I usually like to do because everything looks so peaceful. Depending on where you are flying from, I would bring some food along. Airlines do not feed you much if any nowadays.

They're as safe as any other airline. The only way you can get over your fear is to face it. You don't have anything to worry about. Seriously....there are more people killed in car wrecks in one day than there are in plane related deaths in one year.

NWA is as safe as any other airline. I would be much more afraid of the cost than the slightest chance of a crash!

Very safe ...one of the safest in fact.
Airline flying is about as safe as it can get.
Tell the flight attendant that your a bit nervous and they can help you, go talk to the cockpit crew they will answer any questions that you have. Then enjoy the trip.

Flying is by far one of the safest modes of transportation. Yes accidents do happen, but you could also die driving on the higway or get hit by a car while going for a walk. Relax and enjoy your trip.......

P.S. The only thing that scares me is the lousy service. Also check on the rules for the personal items you can carry on board as they have become more strict. You can just check in your baggage and make things simpler.

Northwest Airlines has not crashed into the ground since 1987. Twenty years of good training . . . or good luck.

Major airlines are all goverened by the same FAA maintenance regulations. Basically, they are all safe - one no worse/better than the other.
