Protestant = "A commonly given definition is merely 'any Christian denomination which is not Roman Catholic or Orthodox Christian.' . . . The term 'Protestant' now represents a diverse range of perspectives, denominations, individuals, and related organizations, all typically focused on a worship of Jesus and a deference to the New Testament over the Old."

The "Holy Rollers" who "cast out demons" are protestants.
The Southern Baptists who think all drinking & dancing is sinful, are protestants.
The Disciples of Christ who have homosexual clergy are protestants.
And there are many, MANY other variations of protestants.

Some are uptight - some are not. Even within a particular religions, some are uptight & some are not. My father was a Church of Christ preacher yet he was not what I'd call "uptight" but many of the people he preached to were.

I think you are thinking of the "fundamentalist." Many, but not all, of them are "uptight."

Careful about the overgeneralizations there.

Um, most Christian sects are Protestant. So, are you asking what Protestants think of themselves, or of Catholics?
