I just got a Keeshond puppy about a month ago and she started having seizures 3 weeks ago. We've gotten her on medication, but how common is canine epilepsy? I'm also worried about it appearing when she's so young, since most things I've read about it say that a dog has its first seizure at about one year. We think it's canine epilepsy because we haven't found anything else wrong with her that might cause seizures.

I had a Golden Retriever/St. Bernard that had epilepsy so I feel for you. It's a very helpless feeling during an episode and immediately after. One thing I noticed is he had his seizures usually right before a change in the weather (even on medication). My vet had never heard of a correlation between the two but maybe something for you to keep a watch out for.

i can be quite common but as long as you keep her the medication she should be ok. the vet will keep a check on her to make sure the medican is at the right stength.
