I am just wanting to be able to help my stepchildren. I would like to ask if there is anyone who is being raised or has been raised as a small child by a lesbian mother, if they could express their feelings about this. I am not asking for opinions on if its right or wrong or not looking for any mean answers and not looking for people to say im against this lifestyle or im for it. Just some things children have to go through when mothers decide to raise their children in this situation. I have 2 stepchildren and they live 2 weeks with their mom and her lover and the other 2 weeks with their dad and stepmom. I just want to know what I can do as a stepmom to make things easier for them. I am married to their dad. One is a daughter under 7 and the other is a boy over 10. Thanks

Going back 20 years I would of had to said remove the children as that is what society would have said, but it is a different world, and all that should matter is that both sets of parents support each others decision and show the children nothing but love.

It doesn't matter what the sexual preference is of the parents just that they love and support the children they will be OK

Do nothing. Stop acting like it is weird, the kids pick up on it. If both sides act normwl, it just makes it easier. Being raised by two moms did nothing to my bestfriend, she is straight, married and has a child of her own now. We grew up together and the only time she ever hurt was when her new stepmom tried to over compenasate and butt in on her and her mothers relationship. A bond between a mother and a child knows no limits on love, gay or straight that is their mom and her issue to ask or whatever. Lauren was never made fun of by other kids, they asked questions and her reply was always how lucky she was to have three women who cared about her so much- she got that from her mom, Cindy(her life partner) and the stepmom all agreeing that they had one thing in common. Loving her.

Hi am a a lesbian and I have a stepson, he is 13yrs. I have been in his life for 4yrs and I do not see to much wrong with him. A lot of people think that it is not right to raise your child in a situation like this but I say "to teach its own". If the child does not have a good understanding of whats going on they will be confused. We are very open and honest with our relationship and he likes it. His friends would tease him here and there in school but he thought the best way to defend it was to fight. His mom is the stud and they would say she dresses like a man which was not true (more like a tom boy) but after we talked to him and let him know that he has more love in this household than they probably have in theirs he has been out of trouble. I say honesty is the key. Good Luck
