you give antimalarial chemoprophylaxis ( ex. chloroquine ), but you should get first a blood test like thin and thick smear, blood culture to document and identify first the presence of malaria and the type of malaria ( there are 4 types of Plasmodium species ) ; each type has a different treatment drug plus you have to consider the epidemiologic factor, different location of the world harbor the different species; I think if you highly suspect malaria, consult a doctor who specializes in Infectious Disease .

Antimalarials are used to treat malaria. Atovaquone & proguanil hydrochloride, chloroquine hydrochloride, chloroquine phosphate, doxycycline, hydroxychloroquine sulfate, mefloquine hydrochloride, primaquine phosphate, pyrimethamine and pyrimethamine with sulfadoxine.
