It was recommended to me that I stop being so liberal with doggy treats for my 9 month old female puggle. I used to give too much junk food. So I occasionally give her a couple mini carrots when I feel indulgent. She is kind of so so on the whole carrot thing. I have learned that she LOVES apples, especially granny smith and macintosh. She goes nuts for some granny smith. She likes them almost as much as company.
1) Is it okay to give her 2 - 3 tablespoon size treat of apples a couple time a week (she ways about 10 pounds)?
2) Does this indicate some deficiency in her diet or some disease? It just doesn't make sense that she likes apples more than other treats, especially meat flavored treats but she does.

You can give her apples, carrots and popcorn, just dont over do it. This does not indicate a diet deficiency as all dog foods are complete. This does indicate that she likes sweet, crunchy and sour treats. Encourage the healthy eating and exercise, it is good for her and you.
