Some people believe in a higher power, whether be it the Flying Spaghetti Monster, God, Buddha, etc. The rest don't know if there is a higher power or they don't believe at all.
But has anyone noticed that beLIEf is contains a lie? No offense. I'm just noting that little tiny fact.

See, playing video games does teach you some little things. Thank you, Hideo Kojima, for making the MGS series. MGS2 has taught me something neat, though completely irrelevant.
And faith and beliefs, I think to be the same. Because you are still giving support and asking support from some higher power.

First off, the flying spaghetti monster is a way to point out the silliness of the creationist argument. Its not a real belief.
Secondly, the Buddha was a man. He was not a "higher power"
Thirdly, yes, pretty much every 16 year old atheist has noticed that the three letters L, I, and E follow each other in that order in the word belief.
And fourth, its a really pointless thing to notice and talk about.

~ thack: where the thighs go straight to the back, no a** at all

its a promise...that happens to be empty.
well lets look at what religion says. as usual ill use christianity. christianity states that in return for your faithful beleif that god is the creator of the universe and jesus is your savior of some sort you will gain entrance into heaven...so spend all of eternity groveling.
its either a lie or a con....which in the end makes it a lie anyways.
so its a lie dressed as a promise that is inherently empty.

(Does the composition of a word really matter?) That's not offensive at all; I BELIEVE that the sun warms the earth. I BELIEVE that the ocean is salty. Are those lies? Of course not! Those are some beliefs about simple things, things that aren't lies.

That makes sense. The word "lie" implies holding a position; whether it be, lying low, laying down, or staying in your place. It stands to reason that belief would be fixed.

I need my higher power (Richard Dawkins) to tell me if that's true. I'll get back to you after he answers my prayer.
