if i were u i would get him a gift card to bass pro shops or cabelas
that way he can get what he wants or needs as far as lures are concerned.
todays lures are quite expensive, ranging anywhere from $3-$10 some more some less.

Darlin', there's an old saying that lures don't catch fish so much as they catch fishermen. Every guy likes his own choice of lures and thinks his are the best. None of us could tell you for sure which he's gonna like best.
You may be better off getting him a gift card for the local bass pro shop. Alternatively, get him a nice fillet knife, a good multi-tool (like a jacknife , but has lots more tools built into it), or other fishing equipment.
If you really are set on lures, then stick with the classic fish catchers: rapalas, mepps spinners, plastic worms, jig-n-pig combos (ask at the store, not as gross as it sounds), or curly tail lures with jig heads.
Hint: open his tackle box and snap a picture. Take it with you to the sporting goods store and ask for help. You'll get better help at a Bass Pro Shop, Gander Mountain, or Cabellas than at a Wal-Mart. Good luck.

Get him a gift certificate to someplace like Gander Mountain, Bass Pro Shops, or Dick's Sporting Goods. That way he can choose what lures he wants.

If you know where he fishes and what fish he targets all you have to do is ask in your local tackle store, he will appreciate more that you took the time and effort to find out about his interests and what lures would be most suitable than the gift itself

Gift certificates are good idea. Getting one from a local dealer will save you $$$ on shipping fees. If you have a Wal-Mart, ***** Sporting Goods, Academy or Target store where you live they have very good bass and crappie tackle at better than on-line prices.

Go to Wallmart and buy a White 3/8 oz Rattle Trap and then paint it all Pink with nail polish. Put about three coats hooks and all.
Then put it back in the case when it is dry and give it to him for his Birthday and tell him Al Rozz said to use a 17 lb tets with no less. He's gonna need it.
