I am dating a guy who is 11 years my senior, but I am under the age of 18. The relationship is not sexual; although just kissing, etc. Is it illegal in the state of Texas to date someone over the age of 18 though the relationship is not sexual?

No nudity is involved. I know the legal age in Texas is 17 for a relationship to get sexual. But I don't know is things like kissing is illegal.

Regardless of whether or not it's legal, stop and think about this for a minute. Pretend YOU were 11 years older and stop to consider whether you'd be interested in someone who was underage, and if so, what that would mean.

An 11 year age difference is one thing if the twosome are 30 and 41, but something else completely if one person is, say, 15, and the other is 26.

Have you even considered why a guy that's 25 would even be interested in a girl at your age? What do you think his motivation is? What makes you think he's a good choice for a partner for you? What things do you consider important when you choose a guy? What allowances have you made for the discrepency regarding your being in the 5th phase of emotional maturity { the development of a coherent sense of 'self'} and he who is currently experiencing generativity vs stagnation? How much money have you saved in consideration of becoming pregnant? Have you prepared for the childs college tuition? Has he retired with a steady, consistant, passive income that allows you to raise a child? Before your decision to make this guy your partner, did you both become involved in genetic counseling to determine if the 2 of you would pass on any genetic abnormalities or possibly fatal fetal diseases? What traits involving your genome are possibly in conflict with his and do they present as dominant? What have you done to take into account that although he presents as maturationally maladaptive, that you still have to go through the 5th phase where you will want to 'go out', go to parties, socialize with peers, go dancing, experiment with alcohol and drugs, stay out late with your friends and your need to socialize will dominate your free time and the percieved 'need' to be around people your age will become intrusive towards this relationship while you attempt to define your sense of 'self' by comparing your way of dressing, acting, and speaking to familiar people you observe?

Im sure you've considered all of these relationship issues with each other; owing to your personal sense of maturity. You surely wouldn't entertain a relationship that is clearly maturationally maladaptive without defining and presupposing the concerns specific to just such a relationship. Good Luck. Your family must be so proud...

No, it's not illegal ANYWHERE until it gets sexual. And that doesn't only mean intercourse. It might not be statutory rape but it would be indecency with a child if nudity was involved.

Just how old are you?
