I used to work at a gentlemen's club,we have to pay taxes as well.
I asked my friend about it, and he told me NOT to worry about it,
I have not done my taxes for 3 year all together.
I asked another friend of mine, and he told me I should get my taxes done, and my other friend was wrong in what he told me.

I belive that he is right, and I wanna keep my financials together.

If I walked into a H & R Office, would they be able to pull up my records on the computer,or do I have to physically have all the information myself, before I go to the H&R to take care of the taxes?
Should it be enough to bring my ID and Social Security Card?

Well, whether or not you need to "worry" about it really depends on what was going on in your life outside of work back then and now. Generally speaking, if you had income and didn't pay any taxes on it, you owe taxes.

I am assuming that the 3 years you didnt pay taxes your income came from dancing. Being a cash industry, it allows you to "hide" from the government. In order for the government to automatically know you should be paying taxes in any given year, they would need to get a W-2 form from your employer, or a 1099 if you are self employed from the establishments you worked for. This tells the government that you had income you may owe taxes on. If you are in your early 20's and didn't have much of a documented income before this, you are probably flying below the radar anyway and not getting any attention. Also, I don't think gentlemen's clubs send W-2's or 1099's for their girls so the gov wont "know" you had income. They can figure out if you needed it however.

But if you are older, and now that you are no longer doing this type of work, and assuming again that you now have a job with a paycheck, your employer will send the gov a W-2 form. If you don't do taxes for this the gov will send a love note saying they expect you to file since they know you got paid. Then, depending on the information about you on your return, they will eventually ask about the years you didn't pay taxes - especially if it appears you needed to have an income to support say a mortgage that your name is on. If you can prove you didn't need the income, or you were legally dependent on someone else who did file taxes (to prove they claimed you as a dependent) then you will most likely be fine and won't have to worry about it as your first friend said.

H&R Block won't know anything about you since your income was all cash for those years. So, you'll need to bring records of your income with you if you have them. Since you were an exotic dancer, you were actually self employed (why no employer W-2). This means you can deduct a great many expenses you had in the performance of your job - outfits you bought, mileage to and from work, meals you paid for while at work etc.

So if you are getting out of the cash business you should probably settle up now before the gov asks you about it. You will still have penalties but nothing like what it would be if they have to come ask you for it. On the other hand, if you have no documented income (and won't in the future), and the gov has no way to prove that you needed one (and can't in the future), you may be able to get away with not filing. But the future is a very long time and anything can happen.

Hope this helps

You need to do your taxes. Every year. Even though you';re *paying* taxes, you still need to have them done. You may even be missing out on some money due to you if you've over paid.

First off, go to your employer(s), and see if they can get you your W-2's, 1099's, ext for the past 3 years. The more you can bring into H&R Block, the better. I don't they can pull up that information. Once you're there, they should be able to tell you what your missing so you can get it.

Paying taxes is the right thing to do..........but I also know many exotic dancers that never file taxes.

You need records unless you want to pay taxes. You need to get your W2 (if given any)..............and you need receits for ALL your expenses that are write offs..........custom expenses are write offs.......
You need someone that is willing to help other wise any accountant out there will charge a fee, do your taxes, spend little time on you and move on so they can collect someones elses fee. THe more they do, the money the receive ;-) The more records of your expenses the better!!!

You'd have to bring in records of what you earned for a preparer to help you with your back taxes.

If your employer reported them to the IRS, you can get them there. If they did, you should have received either a W-2 or a 1099.

First off do not trust H&R Block with such a tax matter get an accountant they will help you get money back. Most likely you don't owe any money but if you get a good accountant they will get you money back.
....You will need all your records no matter where you go H&R block have nothing on file.
