sounds about right for both parts and labor. I would check NAPA or another parts house for part prices for the starter and alternator. Labot to replace BOTH parts should not be more that 200.00...250.00 with diagnosis/

The best way is to find someone that can give you a second opinion. It may be a battery cable that's corroded or damaged and this is a heck of a lot less expensive than swapping out a starter or alternator. $800 is reasonable, but I change out my own parts and do a thorough diagnosis before changing anything. Hope this helps

All depends on your location. In my shop, that would seem reasonable. Also, what engine is in the car, that will vary on parts prices as well. I know shops in other areas of the city, and other parts of the country that will do it for cheaper, it all depens on your location. Also, Is this with the diagnosis included, and are they new, used, rebuilt, or remanufactured parts? The shop I'm at is in Calgary, Canada, That price would include diagnosis, and the parts would be remanufactured.

they are trying to robb you.
you can probably find the parts for about 75 to 175 each.
labor would probably around 75 each.
if you get both done at the same time, you can get a better price for labor. i would say no more than 400 for everything

i own a shop and around 400 for both of these jobs together is good money, but 800 that was going to be a rip off and a half, that's just way too much for that its about an hour on each job at the most, good luck with it.

If you could do any of the work yourself it will save you at least $400. Check at AutoZone or Napa they have the best parts.
