I play soccer and my mom is making me wear a mouthgard. Most of the girls on my soccer team have braces and they say that when they wear a mouthgard they can't breath in them.Is this true?

spacers is totlly worse then braces.your mouth will hurt for about a week or so after you get them on. you can't eat anything that will get stuck in your braces like corn or gummy bears. the mouthgard thing is not true.
GOOD LUCK :-)

When I first got braces as a teenager I had some issues with the spacers for a couple of days.

After I got the braces, I couldn't eat much for the next couple of days because my teeth weren't used to them. I had to have liquids for the rest of the day and eat very light for the next couple days or so after that.

When they would tighten the bonds it would hurt for a bit too, but the applying of the bonds themselves didn't hurt.

As for certain foods not to eat, one of the things I couldn't eat was popcorn. And this was a problem for me several years after I got the braces off.

Pls make sure that you floss every day (they will give you a special type needle that is of plastic for that to get near the bonds for flossing) and brush often. I didn't do a very good job on the flossing part as I should have and later ended up with a ton of cavities.

I wish you all the best with your braces.

braces they hurt for about four days, my back teeth hurt for a while still do but if you do not eat your teeth will never get use to the braces. spacers kinda hurt not a lot on me any way, my brother got them too they hurt him bad. you can eat gum only extra gum stay away from sticky stuff, and no jaw breakers Lol
they will give you a list of foods you should stay away from, they gave me a list. so you will be OK don't you worry about anything they just hurt for a little while, and there more then likely to but them on your top teeth first, because your top teeth have longer roots and it takes longer to adjust to them. hope that helps and good luck.

I hated my parents for making me wear braces, especially everytime they were tightened. Getting the braces won't hurt, it's the tightening, your teeth feel loose and they hurt, usually for a couple of days. You can eat mostly anything. Not hard stuff, like maybe corn. As for gum, my dentist recommended I chew Wrigley's, because they're smaller.

I got braces in 1992, and maybe the process has changed some. Good luck.

i don't remember the spacers hurting at all. the braces will be tight when they first put them on & every month when you go back they will tighen them which tends to make your mouth a little sore for a couple of days... i don't know what kind you're getting but i had the old metal ones which can sometimes have sharp edges & scratch up the inside of your mouth..

stay away from anything gooey like gum, caramel etc...

The spacers are not a lot of fun but its bearable. I found it hard to chew hard foods.

The braces normally hurt a few hours after they are put on and you need to have your pain medication and your supply of soft foods. The pain should last about a few days. There is also discomfort after each adjustment but you get used to it.

Your Ortho will tell you to stay away from gum, caramel, popcorn, hard candy, apples & carrots (unless they are thinly sliced), taffy, jolly ranchers, nuts and ice.

relax braces are not bad. soaces dont hurt at all but once you get braces for a day or so you need to eat soft food such as bread. After a day or two your mouth will adapt to the braces. Foods you wont be able to eat are alot of kinds of candy such as gum laffy taffy chocolate balls and plenty of more

Everyone is different. You will not be able to eat certain sticky foods. They will hurt some, but your mouth will adjust to it. They will give you some stuff to put on them to stop the pain.
