Mosman council in NSW has recently banned smoking in all public areas, should South Australia follow suit and do the same?

I also think smoking in cars should be banned, for heath reasons, fire risks (smokers always flick their butts out window) and how many times has it been heard of an accident being caused by a dropped cigerette whilist driving.

Whats your thoughts?

Yes, smoking in public places should be banned but for health reasons rather than etiquette. Secondhand smoke is very harmful.

It is good i think
in restaurants etc
in work places etc
& all closed areas & in door ways
we have to be 4 metres away from a door way here in queensland
10 metres from play ground
in cars is a no no
you can smoke on the streets
but still smoking is legal & its a bit big brother & its only about money for the councils & who ever
cars are far more dangerous aren't they?
the fumes of petrol are causing many lung diseases & does brakes still have asbestos in them? & kids get high on it & how many are killed & maimed from them
& what is done about them & planes

Smoking should be allowed only in the Outback. For Americans.
Maybe for Australians, too, since it is handier for them.

That's Retarded. 2nd hand smoke doesn't do anything to anyone unless they are exposed to it everyday for like 4 hours. I hate all this bullshit research people are "finding" that says 2nd hand smoke is so bad. Come on people everyone knows you're body repairs itself. A little smoke isn't going to do anything. Getting behind dump truck pumping diesel in your face is 10x worse for you.

I don't smoke myself, but I think its pretty bad to ban smoking...because its taking away people's basic freedoms.
