I simply going to refer back to the basics and not make this to complex. Luke 1:28." And the angel being come in, said unto her: Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women."
"Et ingressus angelus ad eam dixit have gratia plena Dominus tecum benedicta tu in mulieribus"

If someone is full of Grace then they cannot have sin in them brothers and sisters! And if you think this is a lie then you call The Angel of the Lord Gabriel a liar! And as we should know the Angels that remained true to God after Satan fell cannot lie! So either Mary is full of grace and hence without sin or the Angel Gabriel is a liar. To call the Angel Gabriel a liar is to call God a liar. For the Angel Gabriel cannot lie as he is a messenger of God.

My friends if Mary hypothetically did have sin?... Jesus in the womb took her blood and her flesh and DNA upon himself. If you deny this you deny common sense. Mary's heart beated and pumped blood to the unborn child Jesus. Hence as you believe the Angel Gabriel is a liar and Mary has sin in her then Jesus has taken sinful flesh into his being. This is impossible for God is Love and Love can not be contaminated with sin! 1 John 4:16. "And we have known and have believed the charity which God hath to us. God is charity: and he that abideth in charity abideth in God, and God in him."

How could Jesus have abideth in sin in Marys womb? Jesus Abideth in Marys pure love in the womb. Why would God enter a non charitable sinful womb? God abideth in the love of Marys womb.

"Et nos cognovimus et credidimus caritati quam habet Deus in nobis Deus caritas est et qui manet in caritate in Deo manet et Deus in eo"

How many protestants and I include you my friends fulfil this following prophesy?

Luke 1:48. "Because he hath regarded the humility of his handmaid: for behold from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed."
"Quia respexit humilitatem ancillae suae ecce enim ex hoc beatam me dicent omnes generationes"

Shall call me blessed... These words are a prediction of that honour which the Catholic Church in all ages should pay to the Blessed Virgin. Let Protestants examine whether they are any way concerned in this prophecy.

Matt D lets go back to the original Greek translation: Luke 1:28 - also, the phrase "full of grace" is translated from the Greek word "kecharitomene." This is a unique title given to Mary, and suggests a perfection of grace from a past event. Mary is not just "highly favored." She has been perfected in grace by God. "Full of grace" is only used to describe one other person - Jesus Christ in John 1:14.

Its interesting whatif that only Jesus Christ, God himself gets the words "Full of Grace" attributed to him in John 1:14 other than Mary. Maybe you don't understand the full meaning of Grace brother.

again like your other Post this was well put together, thanks again for your additional details regarding the papacy and the early writings they were very helpful. i use scripturecatholic.com fairly often but thanks for offering the e-mail, i never really noticed that before. it is interesting to note that the first protestants ie Luther,Calvin......still held the blessed mother in much the same regard as catholics have always done, i can't locate the text right now but you can look for their writings on the topic. i first noticed it in "catholic apologetics 1 and i believe in the 5th one as well.

their is so much scripture that shows the reasoning scripturally and .logically why catholics hold the positions we do for the blessed mother, even from the old testament. you may enjoy this site

www.newadvent.org has a good portion that deals with this.

i really fail to see why protestants are so determined to believe that the blessed mother sinned, had other children etc........they use poor scripture to support these claims and are failing to keep the commandment of the lord "honour thy father and mother. we are spiritually family, if we are the body of Christ is the blessed mother then not also our mother? therefore keep the lords command and honour your mother the blessed virgin Mary.

again thanks for your information it is really good to see the faith being defended so articulately.

let us not also forget that when Mary & Joseph presented Jesus in the temple, Mary was told that your souls too a sword shall pierce so that you may know the thoughts of many. i find comfort in that verse. how could that man of God have known that Christs final "blow" would have been the piercing of a sword had it not been for intervention from God.

We are so blessed to have such a powerful intercessor ,those of us who ask Mary to intercede for us to her son, Jesus.

Grace is God's unmerited favor. If a person was sinless then they would be perfect and not need God's grace.

The angel did not lie and Mary was not sinless. Perhaps you need to understand what grace is all about.

And coming in, he said to her, "Greetings, favored one! The Lord is with you." -Luke 1:28

Textually it doesnt say she was full of grace, it says she was favored by God as she was. How can a human impart Gods grace? Gods grace doesnt come from humans, it comes from God and his son! You are merely teaching blasphemy. Are you going to follow the Catholic line that salvation comes from her as well? Heck she must be sitting on Gods throne as we speak eh?

Gabriel isnt lying, just your aging false doctrine.

Beautiful. And true.

There is only one other time the phrase 'full of grace' was used - and was to describe Jesus Christ.

NO ONE could follow God's Law Perfectly.
Thats the whole reason God send His Son.
Jesus Christ was the ONLY one who did Not sin.
If there was already Perfection in this world, what would be the point of God sending His Son?

Mary: Saved from Birth?

Catholicism asserts that Mary never sinned and, hence, was redeemed (saved) from the moment of her birth:

"By the grace of God Mary remained free of every personal sin her whole life long." Pg. 124, #493 (Catechism)
"Espousing the divine will for salvation whole-heartedly, without a single sin to restrain her, she gave herself entirely to the person and to the work of her Son..." Pg. 124, #494

"Mary is the most excellent fruit of redemption (SC 103): from the first instant of her conception, she was totally preserved from the stain of original sin and she remained pure from all personal sin throughout her life." Pg. 128 #508 (See also Pg. 191, #722)

If you are wondering if this doctrine is taught in God's Word, it isn't. The Catechism admits that it is another church tradition:

"Through the centuries the Church has become ever more aware that Mary, 'full of grace' through God, was redeemed from the moment of her conception." Pg. 123, #491

But the Bible identifies Jesus as the sinless One, Not Mary:

"For he hath made him (Jesus) to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him." 2 Corinthians 5:21

Aside from the Lord Jesus, the Bible is quite clear that nobody else has ever been sinless:

"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;" Romans 3:23
"As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:" Romans 3:10

"They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one." Romans 3:12

Notice, none of these verses say "all have sinned, except Mary."

"But the scripture hath concluded all under sin..." Galatians 3:22

Mary knew she needed a Savior

In Luke's gospel, Mary herself admits that she was a sinner. Otherwise she would never have concluded that she needed a Saviour:

"And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord, And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour." Luke 1:46-47

Yet, the Catholic church demands that members worship Mary:

"The Church' s devotion to the Blessed Virgin is intrinsic to Christian worship." Pg. 253, #971

Did Jesus exalt Mary?

Here's how Jesus referred to His mother when Mary asked to see Him one day:

"Who is my mother? and who are my brethren? And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren!

For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother." Matthew 12:48-50

Jesus did not say, "Usher in this blessed woman."Rather, He replied that anyone who obeys God' s Word is equal with Mary. Jesus refused to exalt her.

*When Others Exalted Mary

When a woman came to Jesus and attempted to exalt Mary, look how the Lord responded:

"... a certain woman of the company lifted up her voice, and said unto him, Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the paps which thou hast sucked. But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it." Luke 11:27-28

Jesus announces that those who hear and obey the Word of God are blessed above Mary. Perhaps the Lord inserted these verses for those today who choose to ignore the Word of God so they can follow church traditions.

A Pattern

True to the pattern we have seen throughout this book, Jesus is again robbed of glory and honor that He alone deserves. Rather than recognizing Him as the only sinless One, Catholicism contradicts Scripture and insists that Mary was also sinless. Why?

Conclusion

Was Mary sinless from birth? Catholic tradition wants you to believe she was, but God' s Word says she wasn' t. Who will you believe?

"For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not." Ecclesiastes 7:20
"Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:" Romans 5:12
